Phillips sold several rare stone-dial Day-Dates in their "Glamorous Day-Date auction" in May of 2015. They mention some of the stones Rolex used:

Ferrite, howlite (marble), aventurine, diaspore, onyx, lapis lazuli, mother of pearl, pink coral, tiger's-eye, malachite... It is quite hard to list all the stones used to craft the dials in the Day-Date's history

I've come across examples of all those stones, except for diaspore. Google images turns up nothing, but first result on Bing images is a 16013 with a stone dial, despite the fact that the word "diaspore" isn't mentioned on the seller's page.

Is this dial diaspore? And/or is anybody familiar with any other diaspore Rolexes?

Ferrite, IMO. I'm no expert, but looks like the ferrite dials that pop up from time to time.
