I’d like to see how they achieve the “blasted” look, sandblasted or actual hand sanding.

Essentially, its removing with bezel assembly, separating the ceramic insert, masking the number track (to protect the platinum numbers) and blasting the insert with LAWWs special alum oxide/glass media blend, then cleaning and re-installing the now matte black insert and bezel.

Yes my old custom 114060

It was done at ABC but by the guys who are now LAWW.

Before learning they could customise the bezel I had the watch completely brushed and the crown bead blasted by a Rolex accredited watchmaker here in the UK and the brushing is identical to OEM, then on finding out about the insert I sent it in to the guys at LAWW and it came back as pictured here.

One of the only watches I miss, bu do know the new owner wears then hell out of it, sure when I last spoke with him he had a bracelet with the sides brushed to wear it on.

Did have my 116600 lined up for similar work but since being discontinued I’ve held back.

Also funny thing was every Rolex AD snubbed it and said I’d ruined it, but the two watchmakers I showed it to at the RSC St James loved it.

I recently had LA Watchworks install one of their profiled crystals on my 5513 as well as they inspected a 14270 for me with a pressure test etc. I cannot say enough good things about these guys. Super friendly, skilled to the hilt and customer service second to none.
Anything Rolex service related, this is the only place for me.

Customer did not show. Might have to give him a call to remind him his watch is ready for pickup.

for my 116710ln
laww quoted me $1050 for service and refinish & 8weeks
abcww quoted me $600 for service and refinish & 4weeks
rsc quoted me $700 for service and refinish & 4weeks
is laww worth the huge $$ and time difference?
is abcww worth saving $100 compared to rsc?
my concern is have the folks that established abc’s reputation gone to laww?

I requested quotes for service on my 40 year old ETA 2824 powered Kontiki. ABC didn’t respond via email (it’s been 2 weeks) and after 5 days LA responded with $695

I’m sure they do a good job but I can’t spend $700 on an ETA servicing.

Got my SD4K back and it looks great. I’ll have a review up on my website soon. The bezel looks like it compliments the matte dial, yet has a slight reflection to it.
Here’s some Picts:

It cost $300 (US) that included a new Delrin retaining ring, pressure testing, and a light band refinish, and FedEx overnight shipping

Rolex should do this with all their ceramic bezels.

Went to mecca

I finally made the pilgrimage to mecca. The wife's 6517 from 1960 had been spending some refresh time at the spa, I was in town, so I swung by to pick it up.
I'm wearing my 1675.
That is the master watch restorer Alex himself on the left. Good people who perform magic every day on high dollar watches. The amount of pieces they have in house is amazing.

The red date wheel is a very nice touch. In which watch did it originally belong? Did LAWW also install that?

It's a all red numbered date wheel from a Turn-O-Graph. I have images of that particular modification here: https://www.minus4plus6.com/SD4000.php#red
