I too can’t understand the oyster Clasp on the jubilee bracelet, especially in two tone. It is absolutely horrible.

Have three DJ2’s in the collection.

It’s a beautiful watch and made a subtle break from the traditional DJ36 appearance.

I personally don’t feel the watch looks ‘bloated’ at all, but not everyone agrees.

To my eye, the slightly larger baton markers on the DJ2 are exactly why it looks better than previous Datejust dials.

At the end of the day, everyone has differing tastes. I like DJ36 as well as the new DJ41, but of the three models mentioned, I still prefer the DJ2.

I think it’s a huge shame Rolex discontinued the DJ2 line up. The blue dial fluted DJ2 in my mind is one of the most beautiful designs ever executed on a wrist watch. Pure perfection.

I recently found myself asking all these questions mentioned in this thread. I ended up going the DJII route for a multitude of reasons. One that has no basis here but did for myself was the simple fact that I was eyeing this watch for a while. When I just found out they are discontinued I went into scramble mode. I wanted the II over the 41 because on the wrist the 41 felt very light. I wanted a watch that works in every situation. I like that the 3136 is a long proven workhorse. I liked the idea of a jubilee but hate the clasp. I promised myself only a president band or jubilee with the correct clasp I know and love. I have a SS black baton Fluted bezel DJII and hope to own it for my life + +. I didn’t get the same feeling when comparing side by side. Is the new movement better? Chances are yes but I valued the bigger bezel, circumference, and case thickness. I know they made a lot but I think with it’s “short” run they may one day become desirable. If they don’t thats fine too because I have zero intention to sell.

For my smaller (6.5 inch) wrist, the DJII was not a good fit.

Have 2 DJII in my collection. A silver one with smooth bezel and a blue one with fluted bezel. However I have in mind to buy a 41 on jubilee and rhodium dial. I think both are great....

The DJ41 felt too light and small on my wrist.
Definitely jumping on the right DJ2 as my formal dress watch.
My faves in this order
Flutted blue roman (wished there was lume on the hands though!)
Flutted blue stick
Flutted black stick
Smooth blue roman
Smooth blue stick
Smooth black stick
Love hate relationship with the black roman (might be the flat dial color)

I owned a DJii with the light blue roman dial. It might be the best dial in my opinion on a Datejust. Unfortunately the proportions of the DJII were just not right for me. Even worse, Rolex doesn't make that dial for the DJ41 and the DJ is just too small for me. So until they do I may just not have a DJ of any kind.

The Rolex Datejust is the model which put Rolex on the map. The datejust is perfect. There are so many dial and bezel configurations for the Datejust. At 36 mm for men, and 26 mm for ladies (now 28 mm) and there is a 31 mm Datejust for the lady who likes a bigger Datejust, or a man with a smaller wrist where a Datejust 36 would look to big. The Datejust is perfect. When something is perfect, there is no need to mess around with it because you only end up breaking it. The DJ2 (now formally known as the DJ41) was the answer to the trend for bigger watches. Guys started wanting bigger and bigger watches, ladies were starting to wear men's 36 mm Rolex Datejust and even Daytona (Ellen DeGneres which is ok because the Daytona and the GMT 2 actually work for her) .. The problem with the DJ2 is that it just looks wrong .. The bezel doesn't look right, the bracelet looked strange until the new jubilee came out for the DJ41 .. The only DJ2 that I like is the TT with the slate dial with green Romans, and even still I wish that dial was available for the DJ 36. Keep in mind that this is only my personal opinion .. Many guys like the DJ2, and if you like it then that's what you should get .. Rolex also made a DD2, but they ended up scaling that back to 40 mm because the DD2 looked disproportionate just like the DJ41 looks now
