The greatest submariner ever created ,highly debatable for obvious reasons . But for me the greatest submariner of more recent times ,& one that is still obtainable ,has got to be in my opinion the 16610LV .

Thanks my friend. Interesting I'm back this week to the same place I took that pic some time ago, but I chose the Sub-C Date to come with me this time. I just love these watches.

Funny; none of the options...

For me, it's one of the following two; steel or full gold.

The first because it has all the modern legibility features in a classic package - and swapping the insert to an LN totally transforms it into an even more classical piece.

And - if I couldn't bother at all...this is IT:

While different than my earlier 6538 I posted here is a shot I took a few years back of my 5514 and 5513 full spec Milsub. The 5514 has log and had deepest dive recorded by Comex at the time with this watch. Some of you might remember these...Oh the good old days!

For personal reasons...But did not want to have that kind of money tied up in watch collection and I had a substantial one at the time. So for me now I own only modern and quite content.

I agree the vintage models have soul and look stunning, but are rare and expensive. I personally think the milsub 5517 is probably the best looking reference. The 5513 is arguably the start of the iconic sub and the 114060/116610ln is in my opinion the greatest.

When Rolex unveils the 32xx movement in the ss sub, this will be the greatest.

I used to be one of those that didn’t care for the “super case” until I bought my 116619. I find it much sportier and masculine than say my 16610. A little more versatile also.

Don’t you guys wish we could go back in time and buy each reference and hide it away. Then dig them up and be heroes in 2018

Not seen a dial quite like this... utterly spectacular at times.
