Well, what do you do when you wear the watch?

Put it in a plastic bag with desiccant on your wrist?

Even my vintage watches have had the seals replaced recently and are certainly safe against humidity.

A talented cabinet maker can fabricate hidden compartments and drawers in custom furniture. Very common in Europe.

Except a flood those vaults are fine for any watch and with a ziplock bag you are fine forever.

Are locks replaced or re-keyed after someone returns a box? How does the bank know that old renter didn't keep a key?

Just like a car, it's not good for your watch to be sitting there not running for very long periods of time.

I'm in the area almost everyday anyway.

I never have to wait in line.

The staff knows why I'm there and I just give them a wave and have a seat in the waiting area.

The whole process of retrieving my watch or watches takes no more than five minutes.

For me, it's just the safest and sanest way to protect my watches and other precious items.

There are no downsides for me.
Couldn’t agree more and it’s the same for me

The staff jokes that I seldom do any banking when I’m there

Yes, at least here in Sweden. There is also a separate master lock per column of safety boxes in the vault and the bank employee following you into the vault will only unlock the one which holds your box and then lock it again so keeping a key is pointless.

I have 4 watches in my box and i go in about once a week to change it out. Only disadvantage is that you need to predict what you will be doing so you get the right watch. Ive been stuck on weekend wishing i had another watch but didnt think of it when i had the chance to get it.
