With a 6.5in wrist, 42mm is pushing it; 43 and 44mm is pushing it too far. I'm happily set with the 116600 and in no way could imagine wearing the SD43 regardless of text color and cyclops. To each their own!!!

I would advise u to go try on the explorer2, YM2, and maybe the skydweller... to see how u feel about 42-44mm on ur wrist. Everyone has different preference.

I have 7.25 but rounded wrist, and that’s what I did before taking a leap of faith...buying the SD43 unseen & untried. Lol

Cyclops ruins it for me, it’s an inflated sub. I just don’t get it, the SD was never really popular, Rolex butchers the SD and ruins the heritage, people love it

Heritage? I'll gladly sacrifice heritage for functionality:
- Cyclops is great! Without it a date is useless for my (no longer have 20/20 vision...)
- The lugs are well shaped
- Bracelet is the proper width
- Substantial size without being 'oversize'
- And new movement with great power reserve

I understand why people don't like it, but I find it pretty simple and purposeful. SD4k brought the new 4000 ft capability, but it was unwieldy. SD43 enlarges case and bracelet to fix that. Adds cyclops because now it's viable at the depth rated, as Rolex always wanted to have it but couldn't do so technically until now. Pretty much that simple for me.

Red text and 3235 are just icing on the cake.

Great review/comparison--thanks for posting. I LOVE my SD43. My ONLY criticism is the bezel could be slightly smaller. Anyway---Here's a couple pics of mine--- on my 8.25" wrist:

It does, as long as you've a flatter wrist. I've also got a "hollow" between my wrist bones so the watch sits quite flat despite the deeper caseback.

With the SD43 (and the Deepsea) I'd say that wrist shape is much more important than just the size. I've seen lug overhang on round 7.5 inch wrists and no overhang on a flat 6.5 inch wrist.

Fantastic review
I never liked the 40mm Sd
When I got the SD43 it was wow ! Off the radar , looks like a Sub date for non Rolex people and for the WIS they can pick it out across the room . Being that I traded my Sub Date C in for my D Blue I am whole heartedly satisfied .

116600 is better then 126600, imho. also because of the cyclop and also that huge bezel... they really want the dweller to look like a burger? what is next in the future? a carbon dial? hell, no

126600 is a beautiful watch. Much better than the 116600. Previous version was too thick for the size. The proportions are much better on 50th anniversary.

Very nice comparison, T4S!

I had the opportunity to try both on recently and although they are both impressive I think the SD43 would get my vote. Yes, it's big, but actually as noted by many, the diameter suits the height better (both are 15mm, iirc).

I also like the fact that the SD43 is remarkably different from my 16600 whereas the SD4K looks like a beefed-up version of the 16600...
