Really?

You don’t think they want to have status like PP, AP or even Rolex?

I would imagine the status and reputation alone would help them sell watches.

You don’t agree?

Not necessarily. Frankly I don’t follow what they do very closely. I did go to a few of their boutiques while on a Caribbean Vacation a few years back just to see what Hublot was all about and because I was there. Looked and felt more like cheap swatches to me.

I think as long as they can sell their product they don’t necessarily need to belong to a certain elite group. In fact the fact they may not may actually work better for them. That might actually go over better with the people that buy their watches.

But you know, even Rolex has and still makes some god awful bling blingy watches so what do I know.

That’s a thought provoking take on it.

Never looked at it that way. In the past I actually really wanted one. I love rubber straps and I liked the look of some of the simpler pieces.

I went into the boutique in Manhattan with my wife and it turned me off. Besides, being the flipper that I am, they were very expensive and the resale was not good. One of the worst really. But I can’t prove that, it was just my quick estimation.

But you are probably right. I imagine they are definitely still selling a good amount of watches, and they clearly have a bit of a niche.

And to many, Mayweather is a great ambassador and reason alone to buy watches that he endorses. Makes sense from that perspective. Thanks.

What's the over and under on the depreciation for this modern art masterpiece? People will bet on anything, and Mayweather is involved, so I would think there would be prop bets somewhere.

I have a suspicion that the average Hublot owner is more fun than the average Rolex owner

I know both. They are about the same. TBH, the Invicta collector I know is a lot more fun.

In my small circle it’s the Apple Watch people I tend to prefer being around.

Now this is just a running joke among friends— but we refer to Hublot’s newest marketing strategies as Richard Mille craziness with a Rolex price point.

Personally I like Hublot’s classic fusion series and I can see their MP line paying homage (for better or for worse) to RM. the rest of their offerings remind me more of an overpriced G-Shock, which is why I just don’t see myself ever wearing one.

Now if The Money Team collaborations had some unique complication added to them, I can applaud it as Hublot targeting younger enthusiasts who want more than just a chrono or gmt. Sadly all that’s here is a brand being treated like any other street fashion label (but considering BAPE, Supreme, & Illest gained street credibility, perhaps they’re onto something...)

Same here. Hublot makes some good looking watches and I like some of their materials (magic gold, for example), but this watch is UGLY!

Yeah... looks horrible but the truth is that there’s a market for this kind of stuff no matter how tacky and tasteless it is.

I don’t think Mayweather does anything without a big payday. Hublot is the one whose brains are scrambled.

Yeah, I actually think Merriweather has been pretty smart at least when it comes to how he fights. Smart enough to know that receiving repeated head blows or any blows for that matter are not a good thing.

LVMH isn't a charity, either It's the retail customers who are making a questionable decision -- but they probably have so much $$$ that their $25,000 Big Bang is a mere drop in the pot

Like a lot of things, you couldn't give me one unless I could sell it and get another Rolex.

And yet three years ago they were the official timekeeper for F1 and their name is still plastered on the sides of F1 Ferrari race cars. Must be doing something right.
