It may be because I am using the "back door"; not sure.

I just thought it was too funny not to say that I wanted a red "X" like yours.

Not my pic, but a good one (I had to turn it a bit and it distorted a little, though):

Great shots Barkmaster! I'm a newb to the forum but have always been a Rolex fan and also a collector~ ANd let me tell you the DD Bark is one of my faves! Reason being, it shows the sign of the times and is different with its own chunky gold nuggety "gottiness" which is very charasmatic in it's own distinct way and Rolex had the balls to do it! Thanks for the pics!

Great thread! I was 'bitten by the bark' in the 80's and have been a 'barkaholic' ever since. I think I've learned more reading this thread than I knew in the last 25 years. Esp. the Pyramid, Moire finishes-never seen those before. Really cool stuff! Thanks for posting. Best, Mark.

My dad wears a bark President. I don't get it...

My gripe with bark is that gold looks best when polished. That's when you get the true depth of color out of it. Sure scratches decrease the effect, but bark straight up eliminates it.

Bark is the equivalent of smashing all the body panels on your car to prevent people from knowing if you ever had a wreck.

The "pyramid" style is generally referred to as 'Clous de Paris' (translated: nail of Paris). So named after the nails used in some older architecture around Paris.

That was a fun read. I really dig the passion you have for bark. Hopefully everyone can appreciate the fact that it's great to be different.

Here is a lame joke I just came up with. How does a dog piss off gold. He barks at it. Drumroll.

I do like the look of the Bark. My only problem is it only comes in 36MM. I prefer the 40MM + sizes. Great photos by the way. Really makes the Bark look even better.

I know that the larger trend is attractive to some, but I personally would not wear a 40mm because the lugs would protrude from my "wrist" and the bracelet would be at an abrupt 90 degree angle to the watch, instead of gently wrapping around the arm as intended.

I do understand that some like the look of larger watch heads and some even associate it with masculinity. I think if Rolex still offered bark, they'd include it for the Day/Date II. And you KNOW I'd be all for that!!!

Thanks... let's do lunch again soon!!

The DDII is the one I really want as well. The lugs don't hang over my wrist and the bracelet fits like it should, that's why I prefer it over the original.

Lunch was a blast, I agree it needs to happen again soon.

Great thread indeed! I think a bark Day-Date has a little something special, it really looks different from the usual polished or brushed links, you're not sure which one it's getting closer to and you can only come to the conclusion that it's unique!

One of the rare cases where the bark is worse than the bite. Once on the wrist, the bark DD would look lovely.

Great pics and very educational. Love the "nails of paris" DD also, never knew about that and goes to show the wealth of knowledge of forum members.

Kind regards

As a tourist walking through the markets in Shanghai 10 years ago all I remember were these fake DD presidents in bark being shoved in my face. That put me off the bark, but now starting (slowly) to appreciate them...

I am fairly certain that all of those fakes have broken or had their "gold" worn off by now... or maybe they were crushed. But you do have a good point there! Maybe it's a good thing that Rolex no longer makes them!!
