Nato Nylon Strap - Does It Ruin The Image of Your Watch?
I am asking for your opinion. I am about to get 7 different colors for my stainless Datejust. I had jubilee for awhile, and I would like to get a fresh change for my watch. I am also attending a prep school, so that prep look is something very nice as well.
I read something about the Nato straps on Askmen.com and the guy totally rejected the notion claiming that it will totally ruin the experience. This is a serious dilemma.. The nylons are very "chill" in a way, yet can also be too hipster/does not belong with Rolex kind of thing.. Please let me know what you think. |

Yea I love the colors and I love the concept of mingling something so casual with something more serious. My only worry is that I don't wanna look like a guy who is wearing a full suit with flip flops. You know what I mean? |

I have a dozen natos and will probably start using them again when the weather is nicer. They are sporty, colorful and keep your band from getting trashed.

I think natos are a genius in design. Just as a Rolex. The two go hand in hand and the fact that such a perfect classic watch strap cost so little makes it even better. Also Rolex does offer it for sale. Call Rolex UK and you can buy one, they run about $60

I would add however a NATO looks best with a sport watch verses a dress watch so while I think they look great on some models, I wouldn't wear say a Day Date with one. Not sure how I would feel about a DateJust  ? Someone needs to post pics if they have done this and then I will give an opinion but overal, NATO's are a great, inexpensive way to individualize your watch so go for it.

Well I guess I will wear the straps when the weather is nicer and warmer. Yea I havent seen a DJ with straps so I am not sure how it will look..

Rolex was historically a tool watch company. Nothing says "I'm a tool watch" as well as a NATO/ZULU.

Each to their own but I bought a couple of NATO straps to use on my DSSD but don't like them. I think the original bracelet is so much more comfortable and nicer and feel the NATOs really lower the quality feel and appearance of the watch.

I have a really nice leather strap coming in couple days so I am excited for that too. |

Search for Nylon Nation here on the forum...and NO, the NATO does not take away from the Rolex watch. You gotta remember, the guy from askmen.com (from what I gather) is anti-Rolex. Wear what you like and don't let anyone else's opinion hinder your decision in any way.
