So, for the purposes of newbie outsiders like myself, there was a dial restorer or restorers who recreated 369 dials. These were made innocently to recreate the rare look. Some naughty people decided to sell them on as real. How many were real? It seems that over time they appeared all of a sudden and then.......

LINK http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=411267 Mikes in the OP is 100% correct and mine further down is also correct hopefully the pics will help you understand . How many 369s are there ?. I think Haywoods post on the link will give you a idea when he said it would possibly make a mil sub look reasonable. What Mike didn't say in the OP was he had all the paperwork and the original invoice for his uncles old watch, It was invoiced at £64.50 in 1964 , His uncle being a shrewd negotiator negotiated a 10 shillings discount , So £64 in 1964 , The post is closed but I'm sure Mike won't mind me elaborating , He thought it was only worth around £500gbp it was kept on his mantle piece for 19 years, The best offer he received by PM was $200k , Did he sell it ? . I can't say , But know he met a guy on his way back from the 1st Phillips auction in May. As he travelled back from Switzerland . |

His name isn't the point of this thread, Philipp stated that the dial is fake but it isn't so I wonder what he saw or why he thinks that. The Comex On the other hand might be fake but I'm not an expert on them so I can't say.

At least two watches were withdrawn from the sale, but there can be any number of reasons why this happens.
