116618/116619/Day Date 40

I can't seem to get off the merry-go-round keep coming back to these 3. This will be the only Rolex in the stable and pretty much my go to watch and pretty much a daily wear for all occasions. The DD 40 choices would be between the RG/sundust Roman/ and the WG /silver quadrant. So what do you think let's see some pics!

This one gets my vote and will probably / eventually be within good company of other fine mechanical timepieces here.

i would either go with a YG DD40 or a YG Sub. Both my favorite PM rolexes at the moment.

I personally feel that every Rolex owner should have a submariner, but it doesn't necessarily have to be PM. In my case I went with the DD40 because I already own an 116610LV. For me that made sense. If you're sub-less, I would probably go for the smurf! But having the 1-2 punch of a SS sub and DD40 is a combo I'm really really enjoying!!

Based on what you wrote, go with the WG /silver quadrant. I think it'll be the most versatile.

WG DD40 goes with everything/every occasion. Nothing else is getting any wrist time... Sorry for the bad iphone pic.

I have a YG sub. That really scratched my itch. But now I'm looking at the RG DD Sundust. I know how you feel.

Just get both, eventually.

for one watch, the smurf. at least that is what works for me. dressy, sporty, built like a tank-y.

the RG dd40 with the olive green dial would be great second watch. again, for me.

seriously though.....this ......

While the DD40 is fantastic, its lack of adjustability puts it last in my book. Get the 618 or 619.

This is certainly a significant and valid point. So much so that I start an entire thread warning potential buyers of this issue.

However, I will say that since purchasing the "grand link" also known as a 1.25 link, I've had a perfect fit. I couldn't really enjoy the watch until I had this perfect fit. Although I might need to take out the screwdriver from summer to winter which you don't need to do to adjust the subs, I'm still much much happier after dropping the cash on the link.

My thoughts:
1. If you are thinking that you will truly only get one of the three and no more, I would either get the 116618 or 116619. Whichever you choose is purely by choice as they are both great pieces.

2. If you are thinking that you may add more later but will only plan to get one PM piece, then make it the DD40. You can always get a SS Sub to scratch that itch. Between the two DD40 choices, I'd go rose gold.

3. If you are thinking that you will probably end up with both PM pieces (let's be honest here this is the most likely result, right? ), I'd get the Sub first and then the Day Date second.

Some pictures to help:

Incoming in a few weeks. Not one of your choices but just in case :

SS for tool watches ( Sub & Sub date )
WG DD40 for daily wear if you are not wearing Jean & Short all day long :

I'm crying as I once had a decent balanced collection (minus a yachtmaster)
But ya a sub and or gmt and daydate would be a perfect collection!

For a daily wearer I would choose the Gold sub with black Dial or GMT 2 with jade dial. Both are solid PM pieces that make a statement.
On the other hand, I own a YG president which is classier. There is something about that president bracelet with the brushed and polished finish that reflects the light in a way that none other oyster bracelet can. For me the president is all about the bracelet!!!

For an everyday piece between the ones you mentioned-YG sub with black dial, no question. The most versatile, a stunning watch.
