New poster here. Are the new tool watches heavier and more "heavy duty" than the older ones?

First post.

I'm a total novice when it comes to watches but owned a 16613 for 9 years until it was stolen in October. I've missed it so much that I'm now in the market for another but this time a new 6 digit version.
Should I go for a 2016 model or wait until the 2017 model comes out?

There is no difference from 2016 to 2017 with the 6 digit reference. Most of these watches are born atleast a year before they find themselves in an AD. Get it now!

Go for it now as very unlikely to be a model change in 17, altho waiting to see what does come out in March at Basel is a wise move.

The 116613 is just flat out a nicer watch. It's going to cost you though!

I prefer the look, feel and case on the 5-digit references...

Thanks guys, you've just cemented what I was already thinking.
There is no time like the present. Plus, my arm looks naked without one.

AD's in the UK are pretty expensive but I know of a couple of greys offering some good prices. Just need to check out their reps.

there is no comparison...
The 116613LB is a different watch, and the Glidelock clasp alone is worth it.
It also feels more heftier, substantial...cerachrom bezel...:)

Look at my pic and it says it all...

As to the watch, unlikely to see a change in 2017 in gold models. Buy the newest model you can afford is my philosophy.

If you buy a used 116613LB be sure to get one with the sunburst dial rather than the 'smurf' flat blue.

For a while around 2013 (I think??) Rolex started using the dial from the WG Sub.

Thankfully now they have gone back to the traditional Sunburst dial which in my opinion is the more stunning version.
