It's a pain but the only way it can be done. I think this watch is a perfect canadate for that.

The alternative is to send the dial to Michael Young and have him restore the dial. He does stunning work. I would use Bob for different services.. just my 2 cents. You can run a search and see restored dials and even a red 1680 dial M.Y. Has restored in the past with stunning results.

There's sometimes a fine line between a cool, worn vintage look and what other people view as damage. This ain't one of those times, IMHO. Seems pretty clear cut.
