Sea dweller or sub??
Ok. So I've wanted sub since I was 14. I'm gonna be 4O in May. I tried on sub and I honestly felt it was too small. Im torn. Any advices?

Your wrist probably got bigger since you were 14. If you want a larger watch go for it, sea dweller is a great reference.

If you're picking between a Submariner Date and the new SD, then my suggestion is to go for the SD. I think the lugs look better on the SD, I like the wider bracelet, and the red text is pretty cool too. IMHO, there's no point in a steel Sub Date with the new SD sitting right there as long as you don't mind paying a little more!

Old style SD4k or Sub - there is no need to go large.

Personally I don't like the cyclops on the Sub. If/when I get a sub, it will be a no date. If I had the money and was choosing, I would get the SD.

The trend pendulum is always swinging. Watch heads were the size of a nickel in the 1920's. When considering an accessory I'd like to wear for many years to come, I tend to err on the side of classic. That's just me. Also, 26 years is a very long time to want something. I admire your ability to delay gratification. |

I'll go Sub. True classic. Everything else is kinda like spin off that original.

If that was too small the SD43 is probably what you need to try on, rather than a SD 40mm.

If you want bigger then the SD43 is a good choice, it's a super Sub.

If you find the Sub too small, you must have wrists like tree trunks.

I have got a Rolex Submariner 114060, I used to own Sea Dweller 116600. Sea Dweller is more upscale model with a few things that Submariner doesn't have. I appreciate no date dial due to its peer symmetrical aspects that's why I went for the Submariner 114060 not Sea Dweller 126600

SD43 in my eyes in a very very special watch. Everything about it brings me joy when I have it on.

The new SD 126600 is worth a look. Wears bigger than a Sub but very wearable as an everyday watch.

I think you answered your own question - if the Sub looks small to you, go with the bigger watch. Seems simple enough???

Full disclosure, I currently own a Submariner and used to love “bigger” watches. I thought that once I saw a SD in the flesh that I would have to have it since I enjoy a bigger watch. However, one thing I realized was how tall and heavy the SD was in comparison to the Sub. I also think that the Submariners size at 40mm is more timeless than the SD’s 43mm...larger watches may be the rage now but 20,30,40 years from now will they be? No one really knows...maybe you don’t care. Submariner is also 40% cheaper than the SD, which was a factor to me.
All of that said if you know the Sub is too small, then your mind is likely already made up. |

Try on both and post pictures! I love the red on the current SD43 but bought a sub as I like the classy style of the watch itself... anyhow, the sub is border line "OK" for me in regards to the size....

It may feel small just because it’s so comfortable. It will look fantastic. Go sub unless you can afford the new SD. Can’t go wrong my friend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm tiring of my sd43. And I'm a big fella. When I wear one of my regular subs, things seem just right.
