Rolex DateJust 1603/0 purchasing help please!

Hi all,

Thanks for looking at my post. My friend has a Rolex DateJust 1603/0 - 1968 with a blue dial up for sale. The watch was just serviced by Rolex at a price of £1,600. Rolex replaced all part 'as necessary'. He has asked if I would like to purchase of his watch. I am sceptical to purchase this watch from his as it is a vintage watch however it has just had a Rolex refurbishment and is under Rolex warranty until 2019. He is selling the watch for £3,200 GBP... do you think this watch is worth purchasing at this price? It comes with Rolex Service / Refurb recipes and service pouch. No original box or papers.

New parts include:
Full service (and replacement of parts as necessary)
New bracelet
Oscillating wright
Case back

Thanks!

Seems a bit high to me. There is a 1603 for sale right now on the web with box and papers that was serviced last year for significantly less. No, it's not mine.

£1,600 for Rolex to service a 1603?

Unless I am using the calculator wrong, that would be about $2150 dollars US. Seems quite a bit high for a service unless it was trashed with a capital T. What gives?

Sorry. Did not read the full post. It was trashed. Needed a new bracelet and a case back, etc. Wow. That is a lot of money to put into this model just to flip it.
