i much prefer that blue vs the heavily edited/stage lighting effect of the official photos. It looks like less of a blueberry in natural light. I like it either way, but the natural pics are better.

It would seem Patek would want to make and push more of the 5168g if their margin is that much higher then the 5167. Is there such a thing as a 5711G ? White gold? Or platinum? I know of the rose gold, but either they don't make it or I've been searching the wrong way.

There is an old 5711G but no 1G on bracelet yet, don't see any new Nautilus models being a priority for TS now.

There is a 5711 platinum. The original one is the final Nautilus, the last boss. They also made an anniversary 40th version that is awesome.

omg I just saw the prices on a brief search-- pushing 200k for the platinum--- wow. I'm actually really liking the R versions lately- the rose gold with brown strap. Different look then almost all . my other sport watches.

MSRP current

That's right, 38,557 as of 2017 -- it's still not clear to me if they are raising all the sports watches or just the 5711

It doesn't seem that anyone mentioned that the 5168G is also 42mm???
I just received mine, and pleased that it feels like you actually have something on your wrist. A big lover of blue, so this was worth the wait and price.

how is the proportion? The only criticism i have heard on the size isnt centered around 42mm being a disadvantage but rather that its bigger and also thin. Ive heard it compared to a pancake.

I really love the watch but haven't tried it on in person. Would be curious to know how an owner feels about the ratio of case size to thickness and if its really noticeable compared to a 5167 and if it appears actually thinner due to the increased size.

the only example i can think of that is somewhat comparable is a AP 15450 vs a 15400. The smaller version is 4mm smaller but retains the same thickness. IMO it makes the 15450 too thick compared to its overall size and it wears like a brick, to me at least... so the opposite of the 5168 vs. 5167.

Similar to the 39 and 41 Datos, the 41 is spread out so better balanced.

then the SS 5167 owners wouldn't have such a dilemma on if they should add it, in order to have both.

In black and in WG, i cant see it being different enough to win over existing 5167 owners wanting to upgrade, and not different enough for new to Patek customers either.
