6542 meets 6541 (bezel) for a unique twist
Just thought I'd post a picture or my recently repaired Rolex GMT 6542 serial 398*** circa 1958 that some of you may enjoy seeing, regards pts1956

Perhaps that's one that Rolex should have made ...
For me, a standard 6542 is kinda busy , lots of text, an extra hand, a date function and a visually complicated insert /bezel set.
By contrast, the 6541 Milgauss has a wonderful simplicity too it. What pts1956 has done is an aesthetically pleasing blend of the two references - I like it a lot |

Thanks win308, datejust24 & shawndww ,glad you like it although I'm sure its not to everyones taste. I'm just lucky to have two very rare pieces that I think really compliment each other, its just a shame the strap is not the original one but from what I understand I'd probably have to sell my house to buy one if I could ever find one!

It’s a fun combo. Looks very cool.
A stealthy, early ExpII. I prefer the bakelite though. |

Hi roh123, Yes it used to look great with the Bakelite when my dad first got it (early -mid 60's) but if my memory serves me right it looked a lot darker blue almost black compared to the other Pepsi bezels I've seen around. It was very brief though as it disintegrated before his eyes lol. Dad had 4 kids and a mortgage so money was tight so he was grateful to his friend who supplied him with the Milgauss bezel. Beggars can't be choosers I guess ; ) Thanks for the advice on the bracelet though I'll certainly look into that. Kind regards Pete
