Thinking of trading IWC aquatimer for PAM183

Hi All,

I have an IWC Aquatimer 329005 Cousteau edition I purchased new last year. I have kinda lost the love for it though I still do appreciate the blue dial and the long sweeping second hand.

I am considering trading it for a Radiomir Black Seal Pam 183 H. I already have a PAM537 which is 42mm with sausage dials. The 183 is 45mm and has sandwich dials. I think the 183 will look awesome with a black leather nato strap while the aquatimer looked so-so with a nato.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

i am not sure radiomirs work too well with nato, as their wire lugs do not extend across the entire watch. i would do more searches on the web to see if natos stay on the radiomir. I love my 190, but i typically put a tapered gator on it.

of the two i prefer the IWC so i wouldn't do it. But if you prefer the Panerai then why not.

Two thoughts/options:
1) You know in your heart that it’s time for it to depart
2) Put it away from sight and easy reach for the next 3-4 months, then bring it back out. If you still feel exactly the same way as you do now, then see 1.

There the old adage that familiarity breeds contempt, but it’s hard to argue that you shouldn’t need option 2 to help you maintain interest in it.
It’s not like there aren’t any other blue dialled with long sweeping seconds hand watches available, which could easily replace those two appreciated traits of the Aquatimer.

If I had to presume where you’re really at, I’d lean towards option 1 – but only you (will) know for sure.

I have never been a fan of the aqua timer. So yes, I vote PAM.

Go for it if that is what you want to do. I prefer the 287 over the 183, basically the same style watch but the 287 is an automatic with the date.

I would go with the PAM unless you need something to wear in the water.

When thinking of an AT - how has it held up if I may ask?

The blue dial on the IWC beautiful . And you already own a Pam , unless you were going to go with some other model other than the 183 , i'd go with an 88 or a base model like an 005.

I've had the watch for close to a year, my only real complaint is that it does not keep power without a lot of movement. The Panerai I have will wind with just a couple hours of activity the AT not so much. In fact, I will probably bring the AT in to have look at just in case since I am still under warranty.

Yeah I enjoy my Pam but I feel that I probably went a little to small at 42mm. It does fit perfectly without any lug hang but I dunno I guess bigger might be better - I just gotta find out - but for me that means owning the timepiece for a little while to see how it settles in. I really can't tell in a store for a 10 minute try session

Just a thought, would you live with the more basic dial layout of 183 with the small second hand?

How about another blue dial diver? Maybe Omega Seamaster Pro?

Just throwing some idea out there.

Disclaimer: I like PAM. If its not my money and if I don't dive with the watch, I would get the 183. :)
