Question for Deep Blue owners...
I had the Black DSSD for 5 years traded it in for the SD43
Then I got the D Blue Bug and got rid of my safe queen Sub-Date Ceramic and never looked back . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I saw the black many times but never attract me, when I saw the blue in actual life, I had it on my wrist with removed diving link after 5 minutes.

I think Rolex basically killed off the DSSD Black by releasing the SD43. Seems to me for 90%+ out there the SD43 works better for them vs the DSSD Black. On top of that 90% of the folks in the market for the Deepsea want the JC model. Put that together and I bet DSSD Blacks are going to sit in the case for a while.

I just looked at the divers in my Rolex collection and figured that I have a tendency to pick models with special fonts and dial colors these are the ones i chose before I learned about all the different variations there are out there ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I personally never looked at the black dial DSSD as something I would ever consider, seemed ridiculous and I hated the Original Gas Escape Valve /Ring Lock System writing on the inside ring.....until I didn't

I love everything about the JC and can’t ever imagine being happy with the black dial.

I would absolutely pay whatever premium it takes to get the JC over the black model. A couple months after buying you will forget that you paid $500-$1,000 more to get the watch you really wanted. Go for the blue!

X2 Go blue if you like JC, or go black if you want the classic version.

Since I got it, it has been occupying 100% of my wrist time! It is the absolutely most beautiful to me. You have soooooooo many black dial options but only one in that dial color!

One should have both. It’s the grail of highly engineered diving watches. Nothing even comes close. D-Blue and/or Black. Either is fine.

got the dssd black before and sold it then got a deep blue when it came out. very very happy i did it. black is classic but pretty common, on the other hand i can never stop marveling and appreciating the uniqueness of the deep blue dial everytime i look at it

DSSD black owner here...have been for going on 5 years. Absolutely great reference and an engineering/tech marvel. That said I still scratch my head when I see the JC variant, I just don't see the appeal of the color scheme. Maybe I'm just weird or in the tiny minority that doesn't care for the JC dial OR the Daytona...yeah I know I'm an oddball...NOW if they had released a double red DSSD - I'd (well my wallet) would be in trouble.

Had both; got rid of the black. The d-blue is a stunning and unique watch. Got it for that reason. Wanted a black faced diver and have gotten used to larger watches over the past few years so tried the DSSD in black. Just didn't do it for me. Recently picked up a SD43; That I believe works and (for now at least) seem OK with my divers

No, the JC dial is what drew me to the watch. The black dial is just too plain for my taste

Both great and can co-exist in my opinion. Had black, now have d-blue.

I have a pretty small wrist so would never consider getting the deep sea. But that deep blue, I’ve seen one in the wild and it still tempts me from time to time even though it’ll look ridiculous on me.

After decades of enjoying many different brands and sizes of watches, and generally resisting Rolex, a few vintage examples joined my modest collection. I knew I would love the 25 year old TT sub, and I do. Classic, comfortable, easy to wear any day of the week. But I found I wanted my own “signature” Rolex. Walked into many ADs in many cities. Finally, one OG selling Rolex for 40 Years sized me up, made me an espresso and said nothing - he just put the piece on my wrist. DSSD black. Sales genius. Good discount offered. Almost impulse bought it then and there, but let’s check some forums. One week later, I’m better informed back at an AD, “Do you have the DSSD Blue?” I know it is tough to get worldwide, but this place claims to have the second largest inventory in the Americas. Yes we do. Today. Almost sold blah blah, won’t be here long blah blah. Yup. You’re right, because now it’s mine. And it is mine, the perfect match. The only thing really wrong with it is once I put it on, no other watch gets worn until I take a trip somewhere dangerous and Deep Blue stays home. Then I rotate, but as soon as Deep Blue’s turn comes up again... Flying home now. Blue will be back on wrist tomorrow and for weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
