Interesting thanks. Imagine the BLNR blue and deep ruby red. Now that would be amazing beyond all words.

I doubt that a new coke model will be fully brushed given the PCLs on every recent GMT.

The BLRO looks great. It will never be as popular as a similar SS ceramic pepsi, but that's a decision Rolex made.

As I posted, I think the most natural decision is to position a Pepsi and Coke ceramic GMT as limited release nostalgia models. I can see the BLRO, if discontinued, having a run of 4 years only to then be replaced by a 4 year run of a WG Coke model. Maybe cap off the Coke with a Platinum model then? Given how well the BLNR and LN are selling, I don’t see why Rolex would want to siphon those sales to another model variant in SS.

Not a fail at all imo. I've spend time with it lots of time and Ive been pretty impressed by it. Would I buy it? No, not because its a failure but because I'm not into GMTs, Im into subs and the ultimate sub is the Smurf, but no doubt that if I were into GMTs that would be my grail.

At any rate, GMTs aren't on my list with a SkyD on the wrist.

No, I don’t think it was fail.

I was surprised when Rolex came out with WG pepsi.
Thought the color was little off and the price...

But I don’t think Rolex ever intended this watch to be sold in high numbers like any of the SS sports model (sub, gmt2, etc)

Perhaps a smart move by Rolex..
Because by making the new Pepsi a PM piece, the older SS Pepsi became even more desirable (as well as more expensive)
And when the used Rolex becomes more expensive, Rolex can justify increasing prices for the newer (any sport) models coming out...
Rolex also wins by having their used watches become more highly sought after... thus, adding to high Rolex-value reputation in used market.

Just thinking out loud. Lol

Btw, I now love the BLRO.. and it has become one of my grail piece.
Someday...

I think they should have pulled a platona and made it all Plat, that for sure would have made it super rare and special

I think that it is a great looking watch but I wish that the lugs were a bit narrower.

Its funny you mention that. Based on the monochrome article, I was thinking the coke may be released with the new movement and a new case with narrower lugs, also in PM at first.

I'm nuts about my BLRA (blueberry/raspberry).

An awesome model and I never got it until I picked one up. I have to force myself to wear other watches but within a day or 2 this fruity little gremlin is mysteriously back on my wrist without me even knowing.

Me too...on the lugs as it could look a bit glumpy on a thinner wrist.

I've had 3 modern WG models and none of them were "off-color" at all in any light. I kept expecting to catch a glimpse of gold or copper color but never have and all are very silver/grey-ish and mostly indistinguishable from SS.

Completely agree Mike. I foresee a lot of unhappy TRFers come Basel.
Will be interesting. Personally, I’d love to see a SS Coke GMT and would buy one but I don’t think it’ll happen.

I don't think the BLRO was a fail at all, it's a gorgeous piece that I have lusted after. That said, the colours are a little off compared to the classics of old because of the process required for a single insert.

I never understood the obsession with this - why not get the colours perfect in separate halves and then glue them together? I bet it would have cost a lot less too.....

IIRC separate halves resulted in a mechanically weaker insert. I guess they could have nestled them into the bezel but that wouldn’t be in keeping with the GMT styling.

My favourite Rolex by far, if I could afford one I’d have it as my daily watch in a heart beat!

I agree. Not sure why someone would think they messed up the wg alloy. Until a few years ago every wg piece of jewelry was plated with Rhodium to get rid of the slight yellow tint.

There is a standard in jewelry alloy whether or not something can be marketed as wg. Years ago, Stuller, one of the biggest jewelry manufacturers created the first “true white” wg alloy and patented the process. It’s called x1 and you can read about it on the internet as it was the first wg alloy that could be called true white without playing.

Rolex also makes their own “true white” wg that doesn’t need to be plated to pass the European standards.

It still may have a nuanced tint but it is one of the only true white alloys along with Stuller x1 that doesn’t need plating

Definitely not a fail in my book... still the closest thing I have to a daily, and gives me great pleasure every time.

So much history here, wonder what comes next! Still of the view that SS BLRO (or Coke) seems unlikely, but nothing would be shocking at this point.
