Rolex Datejust 17013 different model???

Hi Guys,

i have a rolex 17013 datejust,

but when i check google for images i see that this model has some differences

on my watch on the dial there are these writings ''Rolex datejust and below on the dial it reads Oysterquarts ''

but i see other 17013 with more words ''Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust and below Superlative Chronometer officialy certified

is my watch from a rare production line or something???

would be happy to know more on my watch

Rolex made a limited number of Oyster Quartz models but never any Oysterquarts

You'll have to post pics, butI can tell you already from what you posted that you most likely have a fake watch .. Sorry to give bad news .. Nobody here can give you a certain answer without seeing the watch

Please post pics. Adn welcome to TRF.

The first models released in 1977 and 78 just had the three lines of text as you describe ... Rolex/Datejust/Oysterquartz. Yours should have a serial number on the back of the case, starting with 5.

There is a Dutch OQ website at oysterquartz.nl

nothing really special, just early production. If you perform a google search for Rolex 17013 you'll see a number of examples

Yes, it's referred to as a MKI dial (Mark One) and they are quite uncommon, having been in production for about one year of the OQ's 25 year run.

Please forgive me .. I totally misunderstood your post, and it is entirely my fault.

Someone posted a picture of a supposed OQ (oyster quartz) recently and I thought that after the person got the advice after he posted his pictures, I thought he may have come back with a different name but without showing pics.

I apologize, and it's entirely my fault.

No, you were clear. It was me who assumed, and I was wrong. I really am sorry about it too. The last thing I want to do is offend someone, or make them feel unwelcome.

My OQ cost slightly more to be serviced than my other Rolex watches. Maybe because its a more specialized job. And there is a full drive train with 11 jewels. Don't let them replace your dial, if they suggest that. Photo looks good.

x2 .. Don't let them touch that dial .. that dial is rare and makes the watch more desirable

i am a total noob when it comes to these kind of things

as this watch has been in the family a long time and now its mine..... so no experience with high end watches...

So why would they change the dial in a service job?

Very nice.
The dial looks good Donny and there should be no need for them to even consider a replacement.
As for the movement while the OQ is controlled by a quartz it is driven by a mechanical movement complete with escapement.
Hence the cost to service .

The OQ is a loud watch, don't worry. Sometimes the Rolex Service Centre recommends changing the older dial and hands when they no longer glow in the dark, but otherwise look fine to 'normal' eyes. Don't feel pressured to do so, if they recommend it.
