Joke a side, yes this is exactly how they do it. I put my name on the list a couple of weeks back. Didn’t have my cards on me first time I went in, so they suggested I should come back another time to hand one over. Personally I like this way of doing things.

Cheers,
Joe
Ooh, burn!

Joe, what were the wait times you were quoted? For a 5712/1A, I got responses from 10-12 months up to 7 years! Good to hear confirmation that this is indeed the process as I thought it was pretty bizarre when I put my name on the list back in December.

I know well enough that happens and we have to sell our treasures sometimes no matter how we may feel.

Unfortunately, Patek doesn't see it the same way and some legitimate collectors get screwed as a result of greedy flippers.

I put my name on the list for the 5167A. When I asked about the waiting time, knowing it will definitely be +1 year, the gentleman kindly told me that they have no idea, and when I said; "so +2 years then?" - he sort of nodded, but again said, we just don't know.

To be honest, I don't mind waiting because I'm in no rush. But this whole thing has gone a bit bananas, to say the least.

This is so true. Well put, Tom.

Cheers,

I think the Nautilus is now too big to fail and so it will continue. You can only fight the market for so long and the people want a Nautilus, you can't drive them to other models. I just think they now need to bite the bullet and increase supply so the market calms down to how it was two years ago. Patek and Rolex should really look at how the market was two years ago and do whatever they can to try to get that back, all this messing about with allocations and selling rules are not going to be very effective, only market forces will be.

He wore a luxury watch, presumably enjoyed it, and sold it for a 60% or more profit a few years later towards a 911. He won.
