Best Nato without excess fold on side

Hello group! I was wondering if yall could help me regarding a nato strap for my SubC.

I am about to deploy (again) with the Army and decided to bring a sub with me on the trip. I am hoping to pick up some nato straps similar to the "bond nato," except in 20mm. However, the issue I am having is the excess strap material that folds over on the side.

Are there any nato straps you would recommend that will secure my sub without the bulky fold over?

I appreciate the help!

I cut the extra part off, essentially making it a one piece strap without the part the separately holds the watch head in place. I then cut the remainder of the “tail” of the strap to suit my wrist size. Just as secure as an un- modified nato. You still have the security of retaining your sub, should a spring bar fail.
Also, be sure to get a QUALITY nato with QUALITY, heavy duty hardware (buckle) as this will be the ONLY weak link in the chain.

Safe deployment.

I'm with J.
I chop off all the excess strap keepers, cut off the excess strap and touch it with a gas lighter.

The traditional way ( if it's nylon ) is just to cut the excess off, then use a lighter or similar to cauterize the end...I've not seen a "short nato".

I get mine from Timefactors in the UK, with the excellent G10 hardware. They're extremely robust and around $15, I've had mine for over 3 years and still going strong. Stateside, Toxic Nato's do some similarly good quality straps.

This rubber nato is great I wear a 20mm on my seiko mm300 and will do on my sub , I have a 22mm on a pelagos and again if rubber b don’t hurry up with a strap for the sd43 I’ll be putting one on that aswell. Easy to cut for a custom sizing but best of all its flexible especially if your going on exercise .

Quick pix, as it is next to me.

You can see where I bend the end of the strap under the (only) keeper.

Very minimal and tidy.

I have my 14060M on a NATO only because we work with electrical boards.

Exactly what I’m looking for, Eddie. Did that nato come with one keeper, or did you modify that too?

Dear Sir, Ive attached for your consideration a possible way to resolve the additional amount of strap that is hindering you currently, once happy with the chosen length double over and super glue, .....this works for me and at the very least its worth a try, they very best of luck with your deployment

All of my natos are from Crown and Buckle. Excellent quality and they’re not excessively long. Thank you for you service and stay safe! Rangers lead the way!

I like Crown & Buckle premium natos. I cut off the extra flap so it’s must the single keeper. That way I can position the buckle under my wrist rather on the side of it. I have a big wrist so not to much extra for me, but if there is either fold it or cut it and melt it.

ToxicNatos are excellent and Veteran-owned. IMHO, they are some of the better Natos out there and I have tried a lot of them. Good luck and thanks for your service!

That’s good looking! Thanks for sharing but would you trust a $9 strap holding my $10,000 watch? I’m truly asking !

you want a Zulu not a Nato
no extra strap under, shorter length.
and they're bulletproof. I'd have problem putting my DSSD on one.
I've used them for years
can I post a link to them or is that against the rules?

Ha! I knew someone would ask- but yes, these I would as I’ve used them for a few years and put them through the test! Not sure there is a difference in “strength” between a $9 and $20 piece of nylon .

Maratac Zulu IMHO are the best. They can be found on countycomm as stated above. I wore my 16750 on one in AFG with zero issues both inside and outside the wire. They are a little thicker and fit my GMT fine, but it’s a tight fit on my 14060M due to the thicker case.

Side note, I was always a Salomon GTX guy work great! I just got my first pair of Asolo’s. I like my Salomons better.

I second the choice of the Maratac Mil series but I also picked up a couple of Barton Watch Bands this week (Amazon). Barton has a much greater variety of colors to choose from.

I really like the BluShark Alpha straps! They're very much like seatbelt material.

One of my favorites. The most comfortable straps I've ever worn and easy to trim off the excess for a perfect fit.

Agree, I’ve had these. They are “middle of the road” in quality and the hardware is thin and cheap feeling. So no, I would not trust my watch on them. I’m sure there are much better out there.

Thanks for the recommendations. I am going to buy 1 or 2 of them each...I'll be in the sandbox for awhile, so I'm sure I will need to switch them out for sanitation reasons. Side note - are there any preferred spring bars...maybe something more sturdy?

Standard Rolex springbars are my choice. I’d grab an extra set from your AD. As far as sanitation goes, they get clean in the shower. If you take it off for the shower I’d recommend a good lock on your pelican case or gorilla box. I’m sure your bros are cool but you never know who or when other people show up on the compound.

The Eulit Perlon Palma is one of my favorites for three reasons:

1. The single-ply construction reduces height and bulk compared with a traditional two-ply nato, but still ensures you won't lose your watch if you break a spring bar.
2. The woven fabric ensures an *exact* fit, every time. You pick exactly where to pin the buckle.
3. The total length of the strap is infinitely adjustable, depending on how you feed the strap through the buckle, so there's no excess "tail" on the strap if you don't want it.
