Always set the date. My wife does not. It’s so small on some women’s watches, no one could see it.

I set the dates on the watch that I wear that day if it has a quick set, except for the 1675. If I have to set more than a week away I just put it back in the safe. Which brings me to something I always wondered, does it put a lot of unnecessary wear on the crown and stem or the date mechanism if I keep turning the crown a lot to set the date?

I wear mine for a day maybe 2 then swap to another watch.
So rarely set the date unless I’ve made a conscious effort to stick to one watch. |

I always set the date. I need it at work (stock market deadlines, fees, penalties calculation, potential buy-ins).

If you wear watches in rotation then set it to 1 so you know when it's time to change to the next watch.

I don't set the date or time and don't even wear the watch. It is in the original box, only opened once, and then hermetically sealed.
I do have a photo of the watch that I tape to my wrist. |

I set the date before wearing the watch. If I didn't set the date it would eventually annoy me until I did . Then all is in harmony again, it's just one of those small things which just has to be correct for me .

I’m the same, I use my phone if need to check the date but I like to know how much (how many seconds approximately) my watch is off by (and if it’s more than 45s to a minute, I will re-sync it). |

I always set the date and I don't own a watch without a date window. Personally, I don't understand the DD. Who doesn't know what DAY it is? Maybe it's good for retired folks. Then again, when I retire, I hope to not care what day it is.

No way I wouldn’t set the date. Would make me crazy walking around with the wrong date. In fact, I have a Tag Heuer that doesn’t have quick set so I have to advance it 24 hours at a time to reach the correct date. I don’t wear it that much so it’s a lot of advancing—couldn’t imagine not doing it though.

No matter the watch or it’s complications, they’re accurate when in my wrist.

If a watch I want is available with or without a date, I’d take the no date version every time. With that said, there are a lot watches with dates that I love and want to have, so it’s not as if a watch having a date on it is a deal breaker for me.
Also, I find it interesting that people need a date on their watch to do their job at work. I could see that being the case in the 60s and 70s, but everyone has a smart phone and a computer on their desk nowadays. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don’t really wear a watch with the date on it very often, but when I do, yeah, I set the date. It’s a pain on my Hamilton, though, since it has a recessed push button date change. That’s part of the reason once my Hamilton winds down, I tend not to wear it for a very long time. My Breitling is never wrong, so that’s not an issue (it’s an anadigi), and Monaco is easy to change. Everything else I have is no date.
Can’t imagine having a watch with the wrong date. Might as well have the wrong time, too.
