strength training and excercise, and of course good nutrition and minimize or eliminate alcohol.

American whiskey and Canadian strippers.

If that doesn’t work logistically then Canadian whiskey and American strippers.

Exercise. Cardiovascular workouts at least every second day for at least half an hour. Try to get some weight lifting in there too.

This is what scientists recommend, exercise has a huge impact on your well being and especially your brain.

Start each day with small achievements so you will always be in the mindset that you are already achieving rather than you have to start

The mind is just like all the muscles.

Exercise the mind, and make it stronger.

Meditation is a great way to do exactly that. Create focus and strengthen the mind.

This is going to sound odd but read an article everyday on a subject that you have no interest in and understand (try) what the writer is talking about. It will require you to focus.

To the above I would add a good consistent sleep pattern. If this doesn't work I vote for the advice below. It may not help but you just won't care.

Whisky is spelled without the E in Canada. Concerning which is better, American or Canadian strippers...well, more research may be required :-)

The only problem with Canadian strip clubs is there is no Canadian dollar bills

Recommendations to Increase Focus and Productivity

I’m never an advocate of taking meds unless you’re really sick so My recommendation is Medication. It helps to focus a lot. Wake up early and if you can, go outside in fresh air and meditate. You’ll notice a difference in few days.

Meditation is really great. I use the Headspace app, and do 10 minutes in way into work on train, and 10 on way home. There’s a ton of different modules for stress, productivity, anxiety, etc.

Oh, and stay off TRF, as research has shown a 30% increase in productivity at corporations that have TRF members employed, when the site is blocked

So I have quit alcohol completely. I used to not trust people who didn't drink and now I am one of them.

Nutrition is a good thought, maybe I need to add a bit more omega 3 rich foods.

I was working in terms of cardio but I stopped for a bit, so this morning I elipticalled for 23 minutes. It worked I think in terms of forcing my mind to get sensory input from my body. All good suggestions. Thanks

Good idea, I try to jot down my objectives each day, and I have a general idea of what I want but I haven't wrote those down or journaled my progress towards them. So I think I am going to spend a few minutes today and write down my goals, and perhaps begin writing a few minutes about what I've done that day wrt those goals.

Thanks Rock

I think that's the contrapositive there so it must logically follow . Unfortunately I think women have added to some of my mental cloudiness as of late. Thanks for the humor my man, means a lot

I was lifting weights for a few minutes a day most days, and I have lost about 25 pounds or so, and have another 6 pounds to go to get to my target which is my high school weight. But I've been remiss in my cardio, did some this morning because of the recommendations and it certainly helped. I may want to pick up a few more machines for the other houses. Thanks for your suggestion very helpful

I thought about this suggestion and started to use it, and I think it is a great suggestion. Sometimes there is almost a writers block with big tasks and being able to start checking things off the list builds momentum it seems like. So today I elipticalled and emptied the dishwasher and it does feel good. Thanks for the great suggestion

I thought about this suggestion and I wanted a bit more info, do you recommend Zen meditation techniques or are there specific meditations you like to engage that are more guided or active?

Thanks superdog, will definitely do a few minutes everyday and look forward to hearing more about the types of meditation suggested.

Its weird but I've been finding that I'm most productive between 9pm and 2am. So I'm sleeping in a bit later than I'd like, when I wake up early I'm cloudy in the morning. Perhaps running in the morning will help me get focused earlier, but this is an area I want to work on. Thanks for your sound advice

Lol so true. Thanks for the lead on Headspace, I'll download it presently. I think if I stopped being on TRF I might see a 300% increase.

Thanks

I think that would perhaps be making it hail? Good point though I hope a Canadian stripper can enlighten us to their most common currency and how it is precipitated on them.

Thanks again everyone for the great advice, now its time to implement and execute. (perhaps I should sign off of TRF )

In terms of meditation, keep it simple.

Light a candle and focus on the flame. Every time your mind wanders bring it back to the flame.

Or, even better IMHO, focus on the flow of your breath. Take deep slow inhalations and exhalations. Focus on the flow. When your mind wanders, bring it back to the breath.

You will notice that your mind wanders NON STOP. We ultimately have very little discipline in our minds. The more you practice, the easier it will become. But trust me, you will be shocked at how hard it is to actually stop the mind from wandering.

Feel free to PM anytime if you want to chat about it.

Another simple one to try at work is to count to ten repetetively. The mind will want to go to eleven and beyond. Going back to one is the disciplined bit.

Relax and get your life priorities in order.

Figure out what makes you happy.

There is more to life than work.

Learn how to appreciate quiet time and nature.

Make lists. In order for your ideas, goals and dreams to happen they need to get from your mind to the material world. Lists help you do that. Then pursue them.

Good luck.
