What would be the perfect Rolex?
No date sub with domed crytal, pre-ceramic case specs with post-ceramic materials, glidelock and chromalight. That's my PERFECT watch. And yours?

A modern 216570 case with the bezel markings, dial, and handset styled after a 1655. That is my wish.

Off the top of my head :
1. A 216570 polar explorer 2, only change is I need a rotatable bezel for timing purposes. If I had a way to time things with the explorer 2 I'd probably never buy another rolex other than a dress piece. You can probably understand why I like the GMT master. 2. White gold ceramic Daytona with true panda dial. Throw in a date function if we're getting unrealistic and improve the lume. |

They have it already. It's called the gmt master. Now if they would only release a brown ceramic bezel with just a steel (non two tone) bracelet or release a ceramic monochromatic blue bezel, that would be icing on the cake.

This specific 16550 is my Rolex perfection.

39mm OP with a better clasp and updated movement would cover a lot of what traditionally makes a Rolex a "Rolex".

To time things, you could always just note what time it is at the start of your exercise...

I believe the perfect Rolex would be a Rolex that you spec'd up yourself from the Rolex website in the same way that you would spec up a new car online.
That way your watch would be unique to you. |

not necessarily a 'perfect' Rolex but a useful one...
a hybrid Daytona/GMT with (5) interchangeable bezels (24-hour, 1-hour, tachymeter, compass headings, & one with no markings). |

I'd like a Panda ceramic Daytona, in WG or YG.

I have to say I do Love the look and feel of my Cream Dial Exp II too.
It is difficult to just create one Rolex out of all the options or pick one existing Rolex. I guess that is why most of us seem to buy several!

My perfect Rolex would have to be some sort of autonomous, sun-less sun dial. It would have the capability to accurately represent the sun's journey around our Mother Earth-centered heavens during both day and night. It would be secured to my wrist for easy viewing, and have markers to designate equally spaced intervals of time; for simple sun tracking. It should be made of a durable material; one reserved for the gods. Some mix of iron and carbon that will defend against the harshest of Poseidon's maelstroms, and shine with the glimmour of Zeus mightiest lightning bolts. This magical device of mine would easily be able to calculate the speeds of even the swiftest of chariots through their journey to Mount Olympus. I would even name it after the sacred grounds at which the chariots race: The circles of Daytona! Hail to thee, mystical time keeper!! For some day, you will be mine.
