Is this an authentic box?

Is this an authentic box? I bought it online and want to know if I have to return it. Seller guarantees authenticity and has a 30 day return policy.

It's the inner box that I'm not sure of. I believe the outer to be authentic.

My 16234 from 2001 came in that exact box combination.

For sure! I have the exact box that Rolex sent my Sub in when I purchased it in 1991. It was sent directly to me from Switzerland.

That's much nicer than the current box.

It is so much better, not sure why they cheaped out on the box, the price of the watches has increased sufficiently to cover a like box.

I never saw a box without a gold Rolex logo. Could just be an older one though.

It looks like a Taiwanese counterfeit to me. It's part of a conspiracy to flood the market with counterfeit Rolex boxes and dilute the brands standing in the world of luxury goods.

I have one similar with a khaki felt C ring instead of the flappy envelope thingy. Looks like quality to me though.

I agree the quality of the boxes had gone down. I love the older wood boxes.

That type of box is probably the most commonly faked, but yours is all good.

Not necessarily, this box is for a 1970 1675 GMT and the quality is pretty naff. It’s paper covered box wood, no luxury about it at all.

I meant older meaning 80-90s. In my opinion that's the golden era. I have had brand new Rolex watches. And the boxes always felt like heavy plastic with fake suede interior. Don't get me wrong they are nice, but they lack decor. And for the price of the watch they should be a little bit nicer. But at the end of the day it's all personal preference. I like the old decorations on the outer boxes.
