Icon20 What is the best value in Pre-owned Rolex watches today?

What do you feel is the best value in pre-owned Rolexes? Is it precious metals Rolexes because they drop so much in value or something else?

The Yachtmaster and the Deepsea seem to be good value on the used market. Their resale is pretty soft. I know this because I own both and have considered selling them, but they don't seem to sell for much compared to other sports models. They're actually really nice watches too.

I’m gonna vote for the 5 digit sub.

Reference 16622. Red second and red writing. They can be had all day for $5000-$5500 with full provenance.

OP 39 for the modern improvements and a great price tag. If you want to go to the 5 digit generation then its probably the exp2 40 or yacht master as previously mentioned.

Nowadays, any SS model you can get at MSRP is the best value

Yes, and if you can get a used blue YM at a good discount, that would be my pick.

Totally agree.

I’d also add the non GV Milgauss in white or black. 5 digit subs as well.

Yup, agree with those that have said the 5 digit Subs and the Explorer 2 40mm. I’ve seen some very fair deals on 39 Explorers as well. The 5 digit GMT Masters - which are admittedly awesome - are trading at the other end of the value spectrum right now. Though they are becoming a bit harder to find in original condition, with box/papers if that’s your thing.

Just out of curiosity...are you looking to buy now? If so, which Watch appeals to you regardless of value?

I'd say TT Daytona. They (relatively) tank on the used market.

I suppose there are different ways to define value but in the classic sense it’s hard to beat the 16570.
