Update on my 6536/1

I had the watch appraised and found out some disappointing news. The warranty card was never filled in, so its basically a piece of paper. But the sad news was apparently the luminescent bar at the 6 o'clock position had been touched up.

Forgive the photo quality, it was taken with my cell phone through a magnifying glass :) but you can see how much lighter it is compared to the photo of the 3 o'clock position.

Even so, It's still a cool watch .

Are they saying that because it is lighter in color? If so, I would ask for a second opinion. Some of those came like that. At least seen on 5510's.
from the pics, it is clear that it has been touched..

Agree with CaveDiver - NOT touched up, but high radium 6 o'clock marker...normal for the period

Put that "piece of paper" on eBay and you'd be surprised how much it fetches. I'd keep it with the watch as I believe it to be original to it.

I'll definitely be keeping the card with it.

Yeah, the lightness of color and how it overlaps at the top the "metal rectangle".

Anyone know of a reliable source for a second opinion in the Seattle area?

Thanks for your comments

I'm sure you can find plenty of knowledgable people here on TRF.... This is normal High Radium 6 o'clock marker....here are 2 from same time period 1956ish..... Maybe Marcello can back me up on this....

Wow wow wow.. If that happened to me, I think I would just have a heart attack, and then I wouldn't be able to stop smiling for a year! Simply amazing! Thanks for sharing your experience; it's great to live vicariously through these stories.

I agree with others: only service the movement, any other work will only decrease the value. Bob Ridley is your guy for that.

Wear it in the best of health! :)

OMG! For real??? What kind of luck does one need to score that!? Hey, if you sell it, you might consider giving a little to your friend. karma will be in your favor if you do.

Congrats on a great piece! As others have stated, send it to Bob Ridley and let him service the movement and go through it. Don't let just anyone work on this watch.

Markers are all original. 6 marker should be lighter in that era. Not retouched or relumed. If the movement is not rusted or in need of many parts, there are many people who can service a simple 1030 closer to your location. No need to send to someone for very high-priced "restoration" service and wait months on end.

Thanks for the replies everyone. They have been helpful in helping me figure out the watch.

The watch runs now, even after sitting in a box for who knows how many years. After attaching the band, I gave it a couple back and forth movements and the second hand started moving. I'm sure it can use servicing, even so it is functional at this time.
