Band on 14060 broke
Appears that a spring pin popped out. Is this a DIY fix or should I send to Rolex in Florida like AD recommends? Don't want to be penny wise, but this sure seems like an easy fix.
Your thoughts? |

I'd just have a competent watchmaker fix it til the watch needs servicing...when you service the watch at a RSC get that pin back to OEM.

It would be super easy to fix yourself...if you could find a replacement pin. I'm not sure how readily available they are, since I've never needed one.

My thoughts its a very very very very simple fix, if springbar is broke you need a new one, if its a solid pin just push it back in where it came from job done.

So I'll just unbend this, use my ball peen hammer to gently connect the band together:
Seriously though, it's a bit scary to think my Rolex is one spring bar away from an untimely demise. Do they replace these when they do a rebuild? My watch is about 4 min off per week. Do you think it's time to have an overhaul (no pun intended...)? Thanks for everyone's comments! Steve |

If it's a spring bar, find out the size (I'm sure someone helpful in here can tell you, or measure theirs) and get a quality one from Otto Frei or similar mail order. Then fit yourself :-)

Not a spring bar ! It's the solid hinge pin with the button head ,, you'll need to find someone who knows what they are doing ! Rik ,ABC ?

If anyone has the hinge pin size or description so I can order off Otto Frei, I'd greatly appreciate!
Thanks again for everyone's feedback. You guys have forgotten more than I know about Rolex's! Steve |

For something like this I would take it to an AD that has a service department. Why risk fixing it yourself?

Curious when and where you had it serviced last? I'm sure Rolex would have replaced worn pins at service...

Yes....it is BROKE.
Scary how many members think this could be a spring bar... You could try a watchmaker to make a new pin, but I tried this once and their pin failed and the watch dropped. And a watchmaker won't cover that cost. My suggestion is: 1. take the bracelet off (please tell me you can do that) 2. buy a nato so you can wear the watch 3. and send the bracelet into RSC for PROPER repair. |

cht, Thanks for your suggestions. I guess I do qualify as one of those moronic members that didn't know it was a spring bar. Although I don't post much, I usually find this forum a friendly place to learn about all aspects of Rolex history, technical info and interesting trivia. Yes, I do know how to take the bracelet off. Purchased a tool based on information I learned on the forum. I've used it to take my band off as well as friends to clean. I hadn't thought about the Nato approach, but i think that's a great idea. Thanks again! Steve |

Go to an AD; they'll likely take care of it for free or cheap and you get to look at other watches while there.
As others have said; if not broke then just replace the pin. If broke get a new one and replace it. Most ADs have these. |
