Buy Rolex in Canada instead of Asia/USA
Here is why I bought my Rolex in Canada instead of from Hong Kong or USA. Let me know if my thinking is right or not:
-I live in Canada but goes to Hong Kong and USA often. No particular advantage buying from Canada over USA or Hong Kong. I do not need to pay custom if buy from Canada, but again, I won't count this as the reason to buy in Canada. -CAD is very very low compare to USD or HKD. -I didn't see Rolex increases the Canadian retail price due to the low dollar. At least not to my knowledge. This is a advantage buying in Canada. -I have funds in CAD and USD. Am I right on the above? I was looking at used 114060 pricing in Hong Kong, I might even be making a small profit if I sell my 114060 in Hong Kong. Your thought? |

Then I will say the best place to get a rolex is where you can secure the best discount. Mrsp only means so much. There are other ways to get a good deal.

My AD gives average of 20% on stainless. I am not a big customer either. Bought 1 explorer and enquirer about a 2 tone sub. |

Yup, if you are living in Canada our low dollar makes it sensible to buy here. I haven't seen the scarcity either but I am in the GTA (greater Toronto area) Discounts still are there, my AD offered me 23% off a brand new 116233. David SW is about $400 US$ more.

I had really to put some negotiations in order to get 15% discount in Rome AD on TT model. However, I additionally claimed 22% when left country. My total saving was 30% from selling price. When I looked at selling forums even used watches are selling for higher price that I paid for brand new from AD :)

I also buy in Canada because of good rebate (20% and even more), large choice, low CAD and only 5% sales tax.

If you buy in ON sometimes you can ship to friend or relative in AB and save the 8% Tax.

OP, when you say 20% off MSRP... is the 15% tax added back afterwards? or is it 20% MSRP out the door? if the latter could you PM me the name of your AD by any chance? Thanks!

Typically tax is added after the discount at 13% for ontario. 20% + them eating the 13% tax in SS pieces is not going to happen lol
