SS Skydweller waitlist
Called to be put on a SS Skydweller waitlist in the first 5 minutes my AD opened afeter Basel. I have bought 4 other Rolex from this AD this year including a PM GMT2. I check in with the AD (Mayors in Florida), every couple of months, but no joy so far. Does the SS Skydweller have the same type of backlog the Daytona had, or should I be calling other AD's?

Order of preference is blue>black>white>two tone. The top two are harder to get. If you call around the others might be available if you can live with those. But yes it is Daytona type backlog on the most popular. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Most ADs that I have relations with say that the demand for the SS Sky Dweller is on par with the Daytona demand or worse at the moment.

I was told to expect a year wait for blue and few months for either white or black. I'm on the list for blue.

I placed an order a few days after they were announced; first to order and receive. I suspect it very much depends on the AD. Call up Springer's in Portsmouth, NH and see what they can do. You'd have to put money down however. I did.

As much as I don't really like TT, the TT black dial is screaming my name so loud. Whilst they definitely seem easier to come by, I'm going to give it a year or two because I had three incomings in five weeks recently and I need to rein myself in a bit.

Serious question...........is Rolex having issues producing these models? Why is it so difficult for them to pump these SS models out? Figure, if you can make one and someone pays you what you're asking for it, then you'd find a way to satisfy the demand. I thought they were having issues selling the PM versions, so the SS models were made to move the overstocked movements they've been sitting on now for 6 years.

I don't think there is any production issue. Just typical Rolex allocation games to create more demand and brand awareness.

I think Rolex deliberately manufacturers the stainless steel Sky Dweller models in rarity to make them as hard as to get any stainless steel Daytona be it 001 or 002 (white dial and black dial).
Why does Rolex do it is the equation, my answer would be to increase the model awareness and desirability. I have always had a special appreciation of this model but Sky Dweller has not been as popular as other models. Back to the topic, my AD also said it was as difficult to pick up a stainless steel Sky Dweller as stainless steel Daytona

I think it is luck of the draw with the AD sometimes as to when they get their allocation. I am surprised as to how few incomings there have been lately in the States for the SkyDweller after the initial rush after launch.
I was also under the impression that Rolex manufacture movements in batches, someone with more knowledge than me might be able to help as I don't know if that would affect deliveries. |

Mayors in Tampa had a TT with black dial just sitting in their case a month or two back. Still no SS, and also like you called within minutes of announcement and no luck with Mayor's at all (Tampa and Bradenton).

I emailed my AD the morning in the USA after Basel debut
Still nothing after countless check ins.., I have really taken a step back from this hobby as of lately. Still waiting for my 5711 blue dial after 2 and a half years too. Starting to feel I'm better of just keeping my money and being happy with what I have. |

Yes it seems Blue Sky-Dweller is really hard to get and waiting lists just keep on getting longer and longer. Waiting lists seem to be already quite similar with ceramic Daytona SS. AND in addition to that, there are a lot less Sky-Dwellers in greydealer stocks than ceramic Daytonas.

i agree with this. I love the sky dweller but the demand isn't as strong so its more holding back production and not that its so many people waiting to get one. Also, its easy to forget the sky dweller was late to the party as far as Basel releases and first ones hit AD's months after the others.

Surprisingly, waiting list for black dial is larger than blue dial in Singapore.

Try living in OZ. Nothing other than the exhibition models to date for the SD43 and SS Skydweller with no expected arrivals until "about Christmas time". Forecast waiting list times for the Skydweller are into the 3 year mark if one can get a genuine estimate. Of course waiting lists can be highly fluid especially early on in the piece. But still. |
