Would you sell your first...

Rolex I mean... Consider that you've been collecting and have a few watches to choose from. Your rotation may be between two or three or more...but the first Rolex you purchased just sits in the safe. You've sold other watches before to go towards your next purchase, working your way up to the coveted ones that are at the top of your collection so you're not against letting anything go...

But would you flip your first purchase? Put some cash in the bank to go towards another one day? Does your "First" Rolex hold sentimental value for you?

We all remember the one we lost our virginity to right. Would you flip her? or keep her to pass on one day?

I have a small collection of watches including two other swiss autos, but only one Rolex right now. It was my first and only.

I will get at least one more in the future, but I know this one I will have until the day I die

I flipped my first 16613LB for a new 16613LB after 10+ years of daily wear. I somewhat regret that decision. I should have just had my first one serviced. At the end of the day I am not sure it would have survived anyways as I now prefer the 6 digit 116613LB and do not need to have 2 very similar watches in my small collection.

No, in my case, I would not. Love my Explorer (Mark I) 214270. But it is not a safe queen, either.

No because I love it and did my homework before buying. If I didn't love it I would sell it the next day.

I sold my first and I don't lose sleep over it though. I think about it all the time and admittedly I do regret it, but the watch would probably be worn once a year or less. I like to regularly use all my watches and I enjoy the hobby too much to have watches that I don't wear.

Bought a DJ 16014 as my first Rolex. Traded it in along with some cash for a Sub 14060M.

Love my first (and only) but no sentimental attachment. If I did not wear and the money could go to something I would would wear would have no problem getting rid of.

My first was acquired in 1990. I have bought 32 since then. I now own 19, I have sold none, gifted four, which means my ex - wife has.......two! My daughters have the other eight"

If I could get a decent price I would sell but really in just two circumstances.
A - I needed the money for important things such as health or to make house payments.
B - To fund another Rolex.

yes I would, I try not to get too attached to sentimental stuff. It only ends up costing you money. I had cars and watches that had to go, now I have better ones!

I did flip my first Rolex, a 2001 Pepsi GMT. Flipped it in 2005 to fund a 14K gold Glashutte PanoGraph and immediately regretted selling it. Replaced the GMT in 2010 with a 2005 Pepsi GMT which rarely leaves my wrist.

Cheers, Sarah

My first was a DJ 116234, I like it very much, it's a beauty. Tried giving it to my wife, she was luke warm about it, so I guess it could be on the block.

No way! My first Rolex (14060M) is my favorite, is the one I always wanted, and would let my GMT and Explorer go before even considering to part with it.

I sold my first, a 114060, to fund my 116600. I kinda regret it because I do adore that reference, but I am glad I got in on the SD when prices BNIB were pretty low compared to what they are now.

I’ve since owned a 114060 twice more and I know I’ll have another one at some point. One thing or another just seems to come up when I have one.

Can and did. No regrets. My taste changed in 20 years. My collection is large enough they will have plenty of expensive watches they probably won’t want.

Never say never but I very much doubt I would sell my Daytona by choice. The warranty card has my birthday on there, which is when I bought it.

This was my first and it would take some dire circumstances for me to part with it.

Actually, that goes for every watch I currently own.

I've never sold any watch, only given a few away, but I regret that now.

Sold my first one because it was the 34mm Date model and I just never saw myself wearing it again. Put that $$ toward a Explorer and couldn’t be happier!

Flipped my first to a wonderful friend.
Very happy he has it

Still, I'm tempted to replace it

Gotta live with the choices you make!
