Why do I need an omega sailor’s bracelet for my right wrist?

I was at the AD trying to be sweet like usual dreaming I will one day get approved to buy a Panda Daytona even though more likely than not that won’t ever happen.

Salesperson was nice and answered all my questions so I didn’t want to leave empty handed so I bought this Omega Titanium rubber bracelet for my right wrist for a bit more than $500. What is the purpose of this product and why? Looks kinda funky on my wrist but the salesperson said you are suppose to keep them on 24/7 for “Good Luck”?

They are supposed to protect you at sea.

It was nice of you to reward the SA with a token sale.

They're handy.

If you need to secure a faulty gate, your covered.

If you're walking the dog and the leash breaks you can fix it.

At the gym you have a place for your locker key.

Key chain breaks, your good

If you have a roommate and they see your bracelet on the doorknob... you know

I did commission based sales most of my career and it’s not easy but there is money to be made if you are a hard worker who isn’t a clock watcher.

$500, isn't this the nylon bracelet with the titanium buckle? Not sure if I could justify $500 for that.

I couldn't justify it either. But at this time I am more than willing to suck on eggplants and eat elderly cats of all AD personnel if that is what it takes to secure a Panda.

I paid the full $490 + Tax for the bracelet and it's exactly this one. If I was a married man and married to the one and only love of my life and some rich dude wanted my wife for a month in exchange for a new 2024 Rolex panda Daytona aka "Indecent Proposal" style Ill be more than happy to make that deal being the good, honest and ethical type of man that I am.

A NATO strap on their website is circa $300. It’s maybe a $10 strap.

I think we will all be very disappointed if we found out how much a yellow good presidential with diamonds actually costs Rolex to make vs what we pay at msrp at the AD is a massive mark up. Watches and Cars are completely out of control right now.

I bought an Omega NATO. It’s well made with quality materials. But still very overpriced for what it is. They are popular. Often out of stock.

I think Rolex could still make a tidy profit on that watch if they sold it for what a SS Sky Dweller retails. There isn’t enough gold in it to justify the PM price, and wholesale diamonds aren’t much either. The movement costs the same as a SS movement (I guess a SkyD mov’t is the same or more effort than a DD). The only extra cost is setting the stones. The PM price relies on people to assume the metal is worth that much more. It really isn’t.

So you wont click on that "Buy it now" link for that Stainless Steel Daytona with no date feature and no visible caseback so you can't even see the movement inside it.

I occasionally do stupid things like buying an Omega NATO from the Omega boutique instead of a generic off ebay. But I don’t see myself clicking the buy it now on any C24 watches.

Personally I don't think we should be buying sailors bracelets and create a shortage for the real sailors out there who really need one.

I feel the same way about tennis bracelets. And a backhanded compliment does not qualify you to own one either.

Just sayin'.

I have a Planet ocean orange rubber one. Not sure if OP is talking about the same thing. Mine is rubber, cost was $300 about 15 years ago. Got it at Short Hills, NJ Omega Boutique, to match my orange bezel PO.

Thanks. It has certainly held up well, over all these years:

Mine is the titanium with the blue braided rubber. I have not removed it since I bought it including going to the gym and the shower. Figured it gets washed with me anyway. I wear mine on the right wrist and the watch on the left wrist

They have a lot more than they used to have. They’ve been around for years, so must sell pretty well.

The bracelets are too cool and can be worn in pool or ocean with no worries, unlike David Yurman!!

This is an idea. We can drive up the price so the OP can trade his bracelet for a SS Daytona. For an even trade.

I happen to like them very much, but I don't think that I could pull it off.

Wear it happily, and enjoy it.
