No. Not too much ink, but you need a faster drying ink.

Fred is very correct. FPN is a great resource to find inks that dry faster.

Victor, I use MontBlanc's Bordeaux everyday and do not have a problem with smearing or drying. Maybe your pen needs and adjustment but I will ask for the more knowledgeable members to jump in with their opinions!!!

That would be awesome! Thanks! I'm not using it that often because of that

I can't find a AD here where it can be fixed

Victor, before you take it anywhere wait for other members to give their valued opinions as to your situation...as for MB and their inks I also really like their Oyster Grey and use it in another MontBlanc pen!!!

I can't tell from the pix, what size is your nib?

another idea is - I think the blue/black has a metal component and might be more viscous.

I've been using this with no problems. FWIW I have a fine nib on my pen....

From the limited experience I have with inks, I have found the new MB Midnight blue to be fast drying and a little lighter than the old MB blue black. Both inks are permanent once dried compared to others that are washable.

my MB has a medium nib. It wrote a bit too wet....there are instructions on FPN to adjust your nib yourself...it involved closing the line in the middle of the nib, just be careful!

I can't get to FPN at work for some reason or I'd link it.

Victor, I do not know if this helps or is the truth...my MB fountain pen with an extra fine nib is marked with a 'C' on the reverse side of the nib(up by the tip) and my MB with a fine nib is marked 'D' on the reverse of the nib. Maybe someone with the right information can come forward and shed some light on this subject!!!

Nope. The M in the nib means Montblanc. I don't think Montblanc engraves the tip size (i.e. F, EF, M, B, OM etc) on their nibs. You do get the #4, #5, #6, #9 nib sizings on the vintage pens but that's the sizing for the nib attachment to the feeds.

On very old vintage (e.g. 1930-1950) you do see the tip size engraved on the blind cap of the pen. Modern pens don't have them unfortunately.

In conclusion, there is no easy way to judge the tip size of the nib on Montblancs, from the engravings on the nib. From the looks of your pen Victor, i guess it's either M or F - definitely not EF or B.

If the usage of faster drying ink still does not help, your only recourse is to send it in to a knowledgeable repairer for ink flow adjustment or nib regrinding.
There are a couple of very good repairers in US and several well known nibmeisters. I have no idea around your neck of woods.

Gosh, I always thought it meant medium... duh.

Vitix, it appears from the pix to be a medium, but that's a guess.
