Looking for a dress watch

I recently joined the Rolex family for the first time last year (GMT BLNR).

I am now looking for more of a dress watch that's slim, low profile and very simple.

Not trying to spend too much (> $4000 USD). Doesn't have to be a new watch.

Any suggestions?

Check out JLC, anything from the Master line or a Reverso would do nicely.

JLC is a great shout but Nomos? You can’t have a Rolex and a Nomos in my opinion, that’s like having a Mercedes and a Fiat - when would you ever drive the fiat over the merc?

Get a vintage datejust IMO

Do people actually wear Seiko when they own Rolex, AP, JLC etc? I really don’t get it?

I've been thinking about doing this as well for my dressier needs. I have been looking at JLCs but might end up getting a vintage datejust and putting a set of leather straps on. I just need to do some research as to which ones work better.

What a strange comparison. Nomos have in-house movements with better finishing than any Rolex. The designs are clean and timeless and look good on both men and women. They've received tons of recognition and positive press and you compare it to a Fiat?

I’m not talking about the mechanicals of the watch necessarily, I’m talking about the whole package and when you compare them, Nomos and Rolex are in different leagues

I have a Blnr and wear my Seiko SKX with pride. For me it's not about having some expensive name brand on the wrist. Seikos are well made and are an excellent value for the price.

Judging by your Nomos and Seiko comments, you have some reading to do. The Seiko brand covers a lot of territory. Grand Seiko competes with Rolex, but has better fit and finishing, and Credor is another level.

This Seiko Credor is $52K.

A Rolex is like a middling Mercedes, but Seiko is like Toyota/Lexus, ranging from Corollas all the way up to the LFA.

For a bit more I would buy a Moser or a Glashutte, two fine watchmakers. Otherwise a JLC MC or Reverso.

Simple, clean and elegant. GS is growing on me.

What is the model name of that? I am sorry - I don't know much about the brand and have a lot to learn.

Serious watch collectors learn to look beyond the brand and enjoy the actual watch, its heritage and style, and how they feel when they wear it.

Your watch has the heat treated blued seconds hand, no "8 pointed star" logo above the 6 o' clock and the GS logo appears embossed not engraved means it's the SS version, the preferred choice of watch connoisseurs !

Just convince yourself the platinum model is much better, then it'll be a harder buy.

36mm Datejust or maybe a 34mm Date or OP. All definitely in your price range, and you can keep them on a nice leather strap for dress while also keeping the steel bracelet around in case you want a different look

Even though I don't consider any Rolex/Tudor to be a true dress watch, I guess I'd be remiss to not mention my favorite watch made...and now my only watch. Luckily for me, it just so happened to be affordable, despite me willing to spend more. It's basically a DJ 1600 case with lug holes combined with an Oysterquartz dial and a day complication.
