Through the washing machine?!
No, not a watch, but my MB fountain pen and mechanical pencil. I forgot to take them out of my shirt pocket after work on Friday, and yesterday the wife washed the shirt.........
After some work getting everything dry, they both work fine - whew! My shirt had a bit of ink on it as well as one towel, but both came clean with some quick attention. I am actually quite surprised how little ink escaped the pen as it just has a friction fit cap. I must be getting old to be so forgetful - is this one of the symptoms JJ? Brand new leather small change purse: came out whole but lost a little of its colour. Coins and bills. (Bills also survive, just iron them). Keys in a genuine alligator Goldpfeil key holder (ruined). And just last week: an RSA Secure Token to login to the network through Internet. It survived! Still generates codes. Most goofy thing I have done with a watch: I took the Cartier Santos Dumont, placed it in a plastic bowl filled with water and put it in the freezer. After thawing it still ran fine. Frans.

Actually, Al, it's good for the pen. For fountain pens, you're supposed to run plain water through them every once in a while, to keep the capillary effect at optimum efficiency. I do that with my Mont Blanc and Watermans every few months.

That's a MB for you, Al. They can be thought of as the Rolex of the pen world. You can beat them up and they'll take it as though nothing happened.

JJ, you wouldn't have to pull a Rolex apart in this maner if it went throught the wash. It's built to take washing machines, showers, tubs, spas, garden hoses, dishes in the sink, swimming pools, salt water, did I miss anything? Well all oysters will with stand at least 100mt depth pressure ;o) (I think the last is a correct answer roflmao)
