advice on next patek

hi everyone, hope everyone is good and safe.
i thought i would like to get an advice. i have a small Patek collection that i am trying to grow, planning one new watch every year. i have 3 nautilus (5711 blue, 5990 and 5712G), a world timer 5230G, 5a 525 and 5205R.

i am now starting to think for the next addition. i am not a fan of Aquanaut. i would love something in the range of $100K either at retail or grey.. a watch that also shows that is not losing value quickly (even if it is not gaining).

any ideas from my collector and watch lover friends are appreciated.

regards,

I will recommend 2. Have you considered any of the 5070 range? It's a beautiful lemania based chrono and a beautiful design. It's below your 100k mark and an amazing addition to any Patek collection. You also have a choice in your preferred precious metal although the Platinum is a bit higher. Not many were made so it's a great find if you get one.
And of course there is always the 5270 range as well! you can find one hovering just above the 100k mark and is a highly respected and sought after piece.
Both of these could very well be considered mainstays in a Patek collection.
Good luck!

I will shoot some refs as well...

3940P - classic PC in arguably the best metal (still below your budget)
5170P - very pretty modern chrono, maybe less collectable as the 5070s but prettier IMO
5231J - pretty WT, but you have got the non-enamel one
5711/1R - full-PM Nautilus to round out your Nautilus collection (5740/1G above your budget)

I would definitely pick up a classic Patek chrono with that kind of collection & budget.

thanks everyone. so far the 5270P seems interesting but it seems i will need to increase my budget. the other one is also controversial for me is the
5160/500G-001 which seems is growing on me both seems around 150-160K.

i have plenty of time. i wont my decision before June.

5170p
5270g
5970g

I considered all of these then ended up with at 5270p at a pretty good price. I feel all are somewhat undervalued atm.

As others have mentioned, the next level up from your collection would be a PC, manual chrono and/or a PCC.

However the 5160 is a special watch you don't see often and is indeed rare in the real world. I have only seen a 5160R in person, but the 5160/500G is probably just as nice with the exquisite hand engraved case.

I recently went for the 5070G. Not only a gorgeous & compelling piece for a number of reasons, but also at current market prices a great value IMO.

What about stepping into a 6102R? I've never seen this in the wild, not even in LA.

I, in no way, like silverish/white dials (for myself that is) under about 99.999999% of circumstances... buuuuuuut..... there's just something about this piece where I make the ultimate exception. I too recommended this model along with one other. Congrats on a such a beautiful choice!

Thanks man! I’d seen the various 5070 versions in photos and paid them no mind previously. But when I finally saw this reference in person I was smitten. The crisp edges of the stepped bezel, the inset subdials and the subtle mix of textures within the dial give a three dimensional look when you see the watch in person, something lost in photos.

Honestly I previously had an affinity for the 5170G. But the 5070G is on another level. Patek really went out on a limb with this one. It’s size and styling are not what you see in a typical Patek, and combined with it having the last of the Lemania-based movements, and you perhaps arrive at the reasons why I think this reference has been steadily seeing more love from serious collectors. Thanks again for the comment!

That's quite a collection. Congrats! Looks like you're only getting their low to mid grade consumer stuff. Time to diversify and go into their top-tier offerings with tourbillon and/or repeater. Other than that, graduate to FPJ for higher quality movements / decoration imho. If you really want to get into incredible mechanical movements, MB&F is another great choice.

I love the 5970g for PCC. Others to consider are 5320g (but might be redundant with 5205r). I also like the 5172g for a pure chronograph that’s somewhat casual and elegant.

damn i’m not even sure what else to say haha. i’d be happy with that collection except i’d add an aquanaut but you say you don’t like them. what about the new patek that came out a few months ago with the skeleton face dial?

Don’t believe you have a grand comp at all in the collection...
