Insurance for shipping a watch

I am going to sell a couple of my Rolex watches using TRF. Seems most of the shippers do not insure above $5K. Wondering if someone could suggest a reasonable resource for insuring a watch. Seems like there are many for companies but not for a one or two time ship.

Thank You

M

I thought Fed-Ex insures up to 50k, and USPS can do up to 50k via registered.

Either method will be costly as I believe it'll be 1.2-1.5% cost of its insured value.

Yup, it's worth it in my opinion. I add it to any item I ship that's worth over $100. Most of the time I don't have to use it, but the peace of mind is worth the extra few dollars.

Thank you for the replies. Pretty sure most folks don't want to wire serious funds and wait over a week to get their watch. I tried to get ParcelPro but they require a company application. Guess i will list as buyer pays shipping & insurance and lower the price accordingly. Also selling to US 48 which will help not to complicate things.

If you tell Fed-EX you're shipping a watch they cap the insurance at like 1000 bucks. Some say just say mechanical clock, but I don't know if that would break the claim once they find out its a wrist watch. I know usps doesn't get picky like FEDEX.

Haven't used this myself yet, but I was with Parcelpro until they told me individuals can't use their services anymore so I will be using the above from now on.

It is worth it.

Your best bet is USPS registered mail. It’s SLLLOOOOOOOWWWWW but they’ll cover up to $50k. UPS and FedEx will not cover watches over $5k.

Parcel Pro is a PITA to deal with. I'm not a business but I was able to create an account, sorta, until I had issues (trying to create a shipment) and their customer support was useless. So my account remains inactive.

I generally use UPS and just pay the outrageous insurance fees. I've never had an issue with them.

This company insures watches https://www.overlandexpress.co.uk/parcel-insurance, but provide the shipping as well. they may be able to do jjust the insurance. Be careful with the main stream carriers, as they will charge you the premium, but the fine print excludes watches and jewellery, or they only cover them to a small value.

Well I am glad it did. I need to personally sell 3 Rolex Watches here shortly to help fund a vehicle. I think they are in UK so it may or maybe helpful.

Good job I spotted it then! Which platform do you use for selling? I know Chrono 24 covers the UK.
