What’s the perfect diameter?
I own several watches in different sizes now and have noticed that while I gravitate towards a certain range I don’t know if I would consider one size the perfect diameter. Obviously there are those that say 40mm is the exact right size and those who even swear by 36mm like bark and jack but I enjoy mixing it up.
I have everything from 38mm to 44mm and I think they all fit me well. |

Love 36; 39 is perfect; 40 is 1 too many.

Difficult to answer as everyone's wrist is different. Personally I think 40mm is the sweet spot and maybe a little less for a dress watch.

For me (7 inch wrist):
40-42mm for a sports / sporty watch 38-39mm for a formal / dress watch |

IMHO, it depends on the brand I’m wearing.
I wouldn’t want anything less than a 47mm Panerai. In Rolex it’s 40mm (tried their larger dive watches and comfort was the issue, but not size). I suspect this is true of most brands. As long as you wear the watch and not the other way around, there’s no right or wrong |

Around 42 mm on average but can move either way depending on how the watch fits my wrist.

Depends on a few factors obviously but for me it's definitely 40mm. My daily (lange zeitwerk) is 41.9mm which is just a bit big but it looks great on the wrist. Although I am pretty fat atm lol

Diameter is misleading - for me, it is more about lug to lug length and thickness. Roughly translates to diameter 38-41mm on my 6.75 inch wrist. Prefer L2L under 48mm and thickness under 11.5mm. Of course also depends on style of watch.

It’s like clothes and shoes; bigger is not necessarily better. Buy and wear what fits you.

I’ve been wearing watches long enough to stay within my range of 38-42mm and my wrist seems to fluctuate between 7.25 to 7.5.

Depends on the wrist size and the watch itself. I have a wrist that's slightly below 6.5 so I typically prefer the sub 40mm watches. I have worn a watch as small as a 28mm Lord Elgin dress watch up to a 42mm Seiko Monster comfortably.

Considering the OP...man, there's a million different size wrists out there...so answers will be potentially in the millions.
How big is your wrist ? For me a 40-41 mm is dialed in really well. Dialed in? See what I did there ? Har.

37 to 40 but really depends on the style of the watch.
Sports watch 39-40 Dress watch 37_ 38…never 40. My collection experience, patek dress watch is 37 and perfectly sized for its purpose Journe is 38mm and ideal size for modern dress watch. Rolex at 40 is great though my Daytona is more of a 39 and my favorite Rolex sized case.

39-42mm depending on the watch IMO. My wrists are a bit bigger so a 36mm looks small.

Depends on type of watch for me. A sports watch such as Sub or SD happily wear 40-43mm. Bexel takes up some of that diameter so the dial is not huge. For dress watches, I prefer a smaller diameter.

No perfect diameter for me. I like a 34mm Calatrava just as a 40mm Nautilus (42+mm with wings) on my smallish 6.6 inch wrists. Just to add, 42mm IWC Ocean 2000 is borderline.

depends on thickness and the lugs. the flat lugs on rolexes sometimes makes the angle look kind of steep with the bracelet.

Not Surprised nobody has gone below 36.
The signal from Rolex TT Expy is new trendsetter. Look at the OP lineup - it’s the widest range of sizes in a single model on the planet. 41-36-34-31-28 - all on the quintessential tool-watch brushed SS Oyster. No PCLs there. So some may find a 34mm OP to be beat for a smaller wrist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
