I joined the club

Found a PAM 111 two days ago in the pre-owned watch case at my preferred Rolex AD. Truthfully, I have sneered in the general direction of Panerais for years imagining them comically big and consequently uncomfortable. Admittedly I had never encountered one in the wild until this one. It looked both robust and compact, profoundly simple and uncluttered, admirably straightforward. And when I put it on my 6.75" wrist it fit flawlessly, it didn't roll towards 12 like most watches do, the black rubber strap held its oval shape and it floated evenly over my wrist and didn't settle or stick. I was intrigued but walked away. Then I started research online including here and read other reviews. I encountered much wistfulness from those who had once owned and now regretted selling it. I saw the 111 referred to as the Sub no date of Panerai, the quintessential distillation of the brand's DNA. I became obsessed and continued reading. I went back yesterday to try it on again and get the serial number so I could further learn about it because I started only with my pre-formed judgement which was unraveling. Then I went back today and another guy was trying it on so I hovered and held my breath. He walked away, maybe to do some research. If so it'll be gone when he goes back for it because I brought it home and am wearing it as I type. How sad for me to have been so wrong for so many years.

Panerai is a very solid brand. A great way to add some different flavor to a Rolex collection. 111 is an excellent piece.

I agree, I haven’t been this excited about a new watch in a long time!

Congrats! 111 was my first and only panerai so far as well and it gets a lot of wrist time. I have accumulated many OEM and custom straps which make it that much more fun to wear. Post pics when you can!

Congrats!

My 111 has recently found its way back to my rotation and has become my most worn watch in 2021.

Enjoy the next stage of Panerai ownership/collecting..........the straps!

Congratulations!!
I was just like you. But now my go-to watch. I hate to tell you, But you will find out that you absolutely CANNOT own just one, or one strap for that matter. Take it from me, A long time 1 watch guy.
They are very well designed and built. Great in house movements as well and lot's of options. They will grow on you as you spend time with them and get to appreciate all they offer. Love Panerai, Enjoy in good health!

Congrats!! Became a fellow Panerai owner myself two weeks ago. One of my local stops had a 1999 PAM050 in the preowned cabinet. I have tiny wrists myself (I've never actually measured but they're tiny) and the 40mm PAM050 actually looks like I have room to spare. Needless to say, I'm hooked and love everything about it.
