Determining which models to focus on in search...
Everyone,
Yes, I have read a bunch of threads, so sorry if this is the 1000th time this has been asked. I am searching for a used Panerai (first one) and was hoping the collective could steer me toward which models I should be looking at. There are sooooooo many, I am struggling. Thanks for any help, here are my parameters: 1. 44MM or smaller (7 1/4" wrist) 2. Traditional lever locking crown 3. Manual wound 4. Sandwich dial 5. No date 6. Cheaper would be better as this will be a daily (trying to avoid high end collectibles) Thanks for the help...there are just so many darn models! |

111 if you want steel. 177 if titanium.

You should be looking at the watches that you want.

I posted what I want....if Panarai hadn't made so many damn different models, it would be easier to know specifically what model number I wanted. Just looking for some guidance on which of the thousands of models they have made fit the criteria I had listed.

I started with the 111 because I found one locally. I got lucky. I started researching it and reading every thread I could and I googled every PAM model mentioned in the threads. I made a list of the models I liked. I prioritized the list based on my preferences which are similar to yours. Then I bought a 510 based on that list. Now I’m hunting for something in titanium.
Just start reading. |

112 is similar to 111 with no seconds hand. 176 is similar to 177 but also no seconds hand. All 4 are Panerai classics IMHO. You might also consider a 005. It is not sandwich dial but a very nice watch.

With a 7 1/4" wrist any of the 44mm models would work well. When going through the threads do any models jump out at you? As you mentioned, there are quite a few models so it may be easier to look at the which panerai are you wearing thread and choose some of the models that appeal to you and start your search that way.
Off the top of my head, 111/112 for stainless models, 176/177 for titanium |

Sounds like u want a 44mm luminor. Perfect size for ur wrist, too
Now u just need to decide if u want second hand (aka luminor marina) or not. And decide which case u want… Bettarini (aka tuna can but I love mine lol) or 1950’s And does 3 day or 8 day PR matter? I prefer 8 day. Enjoy the hunt Thread needs pics… so here is mine

i recommend the pam 1086, just one shy of your requirement, not sandwich dial. but the price is very attractive.

111 or 112 would be my choice.
I like the idea of using PAM as a tool watch. Mine has plenty of scratches to proof it. haha Quote:

Don;t be so caught up on the actual reference, do a filtered search on chrono24 and look at the big dealers and find a few that have most of your criteria. Then get the one with the best deal.
Most Panerai look the same, so find the deal |

Try a 915. I think trips all of your boxes and you get the benefit of brand new and significant warranty compared to the 111. Love a 111 though…
