I have it on good authority that it’s the cleaning lady that opens the packages.

They send it to main HQ for different authorized Dealers.

Then the HQ will allocate to their branches.

Pssssst. Salesperson knows what's incoming a few days before. Those who say they don't, they aren't telling you the truth.

Can the AD order a certain number of watches from Rolex (for example 10x Daytona steel, 15x Pepsi, 22x Datejust, etc.) or does the AD only gets what Rolex wants?

Have a great weekend!

of course they know it is fob shipping.

One of my ADs said it’s like Christmas. Don’t know when or what until they get it and open it up.

My personal experience with my AD is that they receive shipments every other Friday and have been since the factory reopened. I am not sure how true that is, but she has no lied to me to my knowledge. ( bought my first datejust from her n 2016)

It’s a system that anyone with any self respect would avoid. The whole thing is based on greed and hype.

I have a few Rolex but the whole vibe has really put me off them. I am in no hurry to buy any more. I don’t like to be drawn into back alley, shady dealer antics. I can think of few buying experiences that feel less luxurious than having to court a sales assistant, kiss their arse and buy rubbish you don’t want in the hope of maybe getting the Rolex you do want. If I buy another watch in the foreseeable future it will be a Glashutte Original. Better made and you get treated with some dignity when you buy one. No games.

There is a lot of truth and wisdom in what you say.

Every AD gives the same bs, they place orders but don't know when they will arrive just a general gist of a time frame if any. They state they don't know when packages arrive until day of or 1 day prior and that they don't know the contents until it is opened...

I had one AD tell me they can get 3 different types of stock:

* Allocated Pieces (I.e. Pepsis, Daytonas) which are sent at random based on allications used/ inventory.
* General Random Stock (I.e. Common pieces like SS DateJusts) when are sent at random. At least a few pieces come in every shipment.
* Special Order Stock (I.e. Non-allicated pieces and Precision metals) Sent 'shortly' after the dealers order. Special orders from customers or what the watch buyer would like to see in their case.

This sounded reasonable enough to me, but would take it like a grain of salt. I will note this conversation was a few years ago, long before Covid.

I would imagine the Watch Buyer knows what is in the mail but depending on the size of the store or the procedures, most salespersons are probably not in the know until a name comes up on a list or the watch is making its way into the case.

I was told they know how many allocated pieces (daytona, gmt, sub) they'll receive, but not when they'll receive.

Surely AD's must be able to order something like a Pearlmaster. And get it pretty quickly as well
