Icon1 Tokyo Grand Seiko Purchase SBGA419

Hello all,

I’m here in Tokyo for my first time on vacation. One of the reasons why I’ve wanted to visit Japan was to buy a Seiko here. A bucket list sort of thing. After many hours of searching google for “Seiko shopping in Tokyo” I had a good idea of where to look when I got here.

I had read about a limited run of 40 44GS cased spring drive models with the reference number SBGA419 being offered exclusively at the Isetan Shinjuku Grand Seiko boutique. I was able to buy one and I’m so thrilled. It’s very beautiful with a purplish blue dial. The second hand, minute hash marks and Spring Drive font are yellow. It really pops but is more muted in soft light.

I’m posting this from my IPhone and am unable to embed these few iPhone pictures into my post. They can be seen at the link below. The boutique sized my watch but I asked them to not remove the protective plastics. I know, right. I will in time.

On a side note, I’ve always heard the Japanese people were absolute gems. It’s true.

That's a really great looking watch, and a fine souvenir of your trip. Seiko shopping is always a highlight of any trip to Japan for me. Congratulations

Thanks so much for the nice input. I always enjoy reading your posts about the Seiko scene in the Far East.

This is my favorite sub forum. So much knowledge about and passion for the brand not to mention all of your impressive and diverse Seiko and Grand Seiko watches.

Nice pick up! I've been to Japan several times (due to its proximity to Hawaii) and love the people, culture, food, etc. If you have time, I'd highly recommend taking the bullet train to Kyoto for a deeper cultural experience.

Oh, and make sure you visit an onsen. No trip to Japan is complete without experiencing this cultural phenomenon.

What a great looking watch and souvenir. Added bonus is I’m a Minnesota Vikings fan - love that color combo. Enjoy!

That's a really unique colour combination - I'm digging it. That dial really does pop under the correct lighting..
