I think they both make great watches. But, I think Seiko is a league or two ahead of Citizen. Just my opinion though

I think it just boils down to personal preference. Ya know, whatever one likes the best. I don't own a Citizen, not because I don't like them, I'm just enjoying the hell out of my Seiko.

Seiko gets my vote as I recently have purchased one and recieved one as a gift.
Citizen hasn't made a watch yet that would make me purchase it over a Seiko.

I like both and am in the market for a new Seiko diver, possibly the Black Monster or something else. I think they are great watches. With that being said one of the best watches I have ever owned is a Citizen. In August of 1996 I purchased a titanium Eco Drive diver with a depth rating of 200m. This is when that type first came out. It is a lightweight watch that is sporty but nice enough to be worn with more formal clothes - much like a Rolex Sub. Anyway, I wore that watch everyday for about 9 years. I have swam with it in the ocean and never had any problems. Once the inside got wet because I was in the water when the crown broke. Sent it to a Citizen Service Center and got it back in great shape. I still have it and it is my favorite watch besides my new Rollie. It really is a great watch and has been through a lot with me. Still even looks great. I think Citizen Eco Drives are great watches but so are Seikos.

I like seiko, if you go to Japan there are many lines of seiko. They make a great watch.

Watch for the money

Seiko makes incredible watch for the money, if you simply want an automatic watch with good styling for almost nothing you can't beat a Seiko which is a good brand too. Rolex has perfected its marketing...This seiko diver is beautiful and cost only 100 bucks compared to the Rolex divers that cost $5500. The movement is in-house made and will last for years...So why Rolex? Because it's a brand name jewelry.

Between just a SEIKO and a CITIZEN, I personally think a SEIKO would be a much better buy!!

Gotta say Seiko, too. I've got three and they're what I "grew up on". Not to mention, I used my Monster in the Corps, and it even survived a nasty car wreck; still goin'...

The quality and craftmanship of those Grand Seikos is something we can learn to admire.
