Help me choose the right Grand Seiko

I’ve been obsessing over GS the past week and NEED to buy one. My favorite GS is the SBGE211 GMT but it doesn’t have illuminated hands. I’ve spent countless hours reading reviews, watching videos, drooling on the GS website. They are unbelievable watches and I truly do “get it” now as a Patek/AP/VC guy.

My criteria I am looking for:

GMT complication
Stainless bracelet
Illuminated hands

What GS would you guys recommend?

I personally would skip lume with GS in order to fully enjoy the beautiful finishing throughout the hands. Also, the models with lume are very sporty, and I prefer a little less intense look for Grand Seiko.

The recently announced LE, the SBGE249, could be one to consider, unless lume really is a 100% necessity for you.

SBGE245 has all of your requirements and is a nice piece. It’s not my style, but it checks your boxes.

The Lume is pretty important to me on this piece.

That is quite nice and does check all my boxes, but the maroon colored dial is unattractive to me unfortunately! Do they produce this with a black or silver dial by chance?

So I found the SBGE201 which appears to have everything I’m looking for, thoughts on it?

None of what you are asking for but a super cool GS, imho worth looking at and considering.

Basically yes to your question. Sbge201, sbge248, or sbge245. Should be perfect for your first.

Or the LE SBGE021 or 29, if one of the 150/100 made can be found.
SBGE015/215, if gold hands are appealing… or the even rarer 30 pieces 241.

Oh, look what I found!
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=673666

And for something not quite as big, the 200 pieces SBGE033

The SBGE248 is amazing and so unique!!! Just don’t know if I can justify paying $11k for a GS though.

The SBGE248 appears identical to the SBGE245 just with gold accent on the dial. Is this really worth the $11,500 price tag for the 248 when a 245 can be had for around $5,000?? I love it just not the price.

As much as I love GS... I have to agree here... if the gold extended into the bracelet I could accept the price.

But this seems a bit too much for the amount of gold provided...

I think their pricing will be a catastrophic mistake resulting in low sales numbers. I expect to see this on the gray market in unworn condition for maybe 8-9k. I would pay 8k but definitely not 11.5.

I was wondering the same thing. Feels like they over extended a bit on that price point.

totally agree.. which hurts brand Image -

Why not price it somewhat low... have it evaporate, and then command a premium on the secondary market ... if the priced at 7k, immediately sold out, then showed up at 8-9 k on the grey market - it would get its fair market value, and the GS brand would be buoyed by the idea of "value retention" and "investment potential" - a potential loss in some revenue - but sometimes a "loss leader" is a fair sacrifice for the long term betterment of the brand...
