Am I the only guy who thinks Hodonkee's pics displayed a watch that looked different? It looked like it had a matte dial and brushed bezel. It actually looked better than what the watch looks like in live pics.

I think it looks worse. It is suppose to be a exploring watch. So give me the matte case and dial like Hodonkee's pics lead you believe it would be.

Looks the same after accounting for lighting differences.

Nope, same here. The Seiko pictures show a blue sunburst dial and polished bezel vs. Hodinkee's matte dial, brushed bezel. We'll have to wait for those who got their watches to confirm.

Hodinkee looks like polished bezel in their pic. Again, have a feeling it is lighting / rendering situation. But yeah, we'll know in two days when they arrive.

Hodinkee bezel seems polished pic below.

Yeah, guess we'll all know in two days. Either way, am very happy as needed a Seiko to flesh out my mechanical watch collection. :)

How do you find out when these things are coming? Didn't know about it until it was too late...

Hodinkee pictures definitely make it look like a matte blue dial.

Let's see when it gets here.

Cool watch, but what separates it from the #SARB017 which has the same movement (besides the dial color)?

I believe just the dial and the strap. The strap that came with the SARB017 was one of the worst I've ever seen.

After ordering from seiko and getting confirmation and my card charged, just got an email that seiko cancelled my order because not enough stock. Not cool.

That’s a bummer. I’m half expecting that to happen to me with Hodinkee. Still no word on mine being shipped.

Monkey sees monkey learns.

Seiko saw how Omega's LE Speedmaster is doing with online sales, now they started doing it on their own :)

Looks bad to be honest.

I love the shots of Hodinkee but like this it lackluster.

That's it? A dial color and leather strap? And people will pay a grand on eBay for it?

Agreed, that strap was putrid on the SARB017, but you can always swap. I've done that with a couple Seikos I have which I really admire except the nauseating waxy, fake alligator.

The lighting probably doesn't help.

Here is another one, looks better in this light.

The dial color and texture seems extremely misleading based on the hodinkee pictures.

Ok guys here it is in the flesh.

I would say a fairly matte dial in my opinion.

Crappy rain outside so can’t get any good daylight pictures.

Let me know if you want me to try any other angles?
