Incoming!! Part 1

I was getting the itch again to build up some wonders. Purchased 2 beautiful watches from David over the weekend —and this one in this incoming thread is one of the finest watches under 10k or more. It’s remarkable.

It’s the SEIKO Grand Seiko hi-beat.

Read a lot about them and have wanted one for quite a few years now. But never got the chance to pull the trigger one one because of other watch distractions like the Tudor, PAM and Omega. The SEIKO always fell to the wayside because there were so many open questions about them.

This time around I could not stop thinking about this beauty. And although I bought a Rolex with this one, when I opened both, and handled them, it was clear that the GS is an extraordinary watch! It’s actually the nicest watch I’ve owned to date, and it’s an absolute crime these beauties don’t get more attention.

When I showed my Son last night after sizing the bracelet (a huge PITA btw), his eyes lit up and he said, ‘Dad, that watch is absolutely beautiful!’ He handled it and couldn’t take his eyes off the dial. He admired it like no other watch he’s handled, and that’s been many over the years.

It was a clear indication that this watch will be with me for many years, if not all of them, and I’m so happy that I finally pulled the trigger and get to experience such a beautiful work of art. My Son’s final assessment of the watch was ‘It’s really in the details, isn’t it?’

Presenting... the humble, but extremely beautiful and detailed watch in person, as well as terribly underrated... SEIKO Grand Seiko.

Tomorrow I’ll present the Rolex.

Love the grand Seiko hi-beat! It's been on my short list for a while. Enjoy! Can't wait to see the Rolex.

Gorgeous watch, congratulations! I’ve been admiring the Seiko’s for a little over a year ago. Great history too!

Congrats. It really is a beautiful watch. I’ve got a GS incoming end of this month and can’t wait. Your enthusiasm for GS mirrors my own, and that is cool.

It looks perfect on your wrist. Many congratulations. I found that I had the same reaction as your son, a GS just seems to sparkle and glint like no other, it cant be caught in a pic or video.

Wear that beauty in the very best of health, it looks so stylish on your wrist.

It truly is one of the most impactful watches in person that I’ve had the pleasure to own. Thank you for these kind words.

Hence the moniker: Poor man’s GS.

But i dont mean anything pejorative. It is what it is. I love the sarbs. Both 33 and 35.
