5171P sitting in case at WoS vegas

5271P. Sorry please correct title.

Walked by earlier... guy tries to sell me... cause u know it’s an application piece. It was in the case not in a box in the back...in the case!!!

Apparently someone backed out.

Feels like a trend, maybe that’s why Patek is requiring a bunch of these $200k watches need to be sold before allocating it.

Hmm

Thoughts?

Okay, it was mine but I had to withdraw. I lost big at the track. The repo company is coming for my 911 so I parked it down the block.

If I’m spending that kind of coin on a watch I’d walk on to the RM boutique. Perhaps the person that reserved it came to their senses and did the same?

To often that's also AD bull#%it. They tell PP they have a buyer on an application.piece and give a name. Tbey then take the piece and keep.it to allocate later. Lots of examples of a 5131R given to a client for his loyalty only to find it had been in the safe for 2 years!!! I.picked up a 3940 salmon for someone on TRF which was 1 year after the London Exhibition

In the case of the 5170P that I am.lookings at the customer purchasing put a deposit in April. He then started negotiating with the AD stating that he will take the 5170 as a bundle with a 5711 and wanted them to be delivered together. My AD told him to....... off

Basically, all the 5270s aren't doing great. Even the relatively highly rated 5270P. Can easily find them in the display.

This appears to be a slow mover for Patek. I am thinking diamond bezels are just passé on men's watches and this one wears a little big for most women. If you buy it be sure its for you and fits nicely in the collection.

I dont think they get enough of an allocation compared to other jurisdictions. I am quite supportive of their operating models it does bring a degree of fairness into the process. Anecdote from AD. Person goes to Boodles wanting 5196P for a birthday. They dont have and phone Patek. Patek checks inventories and identifies one at the AD I deal with. Boodles advises the client who went to my AD and looked at the watch. Can you imagine that level of cooperation anywhere else? Everyone will be trying to get a slice of the action

why don't they just fly over to any larger city in central europe and make themselves and an AD happy?
i was in london a month ago and an AD on bond street had the 5270P ready to sell it to me. hevalso said 'such a coincidence, a customer had just passed on the watch':::)))
the watch is usually readily available, the 5271P less though.

They believe in building relationships with AD's. None have small collections where it's the only incoming they have in a year. One of them is getting a unique piece from RM....these are not end game pieces but steps to a skymoon for 2 of them none of whom have been accepted yet

That definitley doesn’t happen anywhere here in the US. I couldn’t even get the 5980 1AR from WoS in Vegas when my home store was WoS in Soho.

Maybe there is a level of gentlemanness (not a real word I know) to it in UK. Also in UK they don’t try to bundle you given the operating model. Which I like.

I think i.mentioned in another thread that bundling is s big no no...the 5170zp I was offered was a Client who ordered it and then delayed paying in full until he got a 5711. My AD told him to pi@# off....so he wont bundle and doesnt expect Clients to do the same....he had a 5170J for about 18 months...it was a standing joke....it went eventually and no discount
