Incoming red sub barn find

Rolex brethren,

I can hardly focus. In a few hours time I should have delivery of a true barn find one owner mk4 red sub. I barely slept last night.

Will post some pics upon arrival!

Wow Greg u did great. That thing is stunning. What's the story on it? Love these barn find storys.

Great patina, case and insert. Huge congrats. You can tell that plexi has been on that baby a long time. So cool to find them untouched like this.

Thanks guys! So the story goes, I saw a crappy ad on ebay not long ago (my favorite kind) with terrible photos. The guy took it off ebay and I contacted him with an inquiry. He is an art and antique dealer and told me that the grandson of the original owner came in with the watch looking to make some cash... didn't tell me what he paid of course, but i didnt care. I asked for a few more photos and could tell that the case looked unpolished... I quickly made him an offer and the deal went through. Very happy with the outcome!

Excellent - congrats and you had good fortune on that one. The mag on the date looks off - maybe an aftermarket plexi. I'd get a new one put on there, and send the C&I rivet to MY in HK, but other than that it's a peach. How's it running? Maybe get a movement service.
